    Cottonseed Oil - Ar-R?

    Hey Guys,

You know the Cottonseed Oil from Ar-R , is it sterile enough to inject straight from the bottle or do i have to filter it. If i have to filter it, how do i do it?

Their discalimer says "*All USP Grade oil has been repackaged into sterile plastic bottles. For your research, filtering process is recommended," but do they say they so they just dont get sued?

    Thanks

Any sterility it might have had was likely compromised when repackaged.
I would just pick up a whole liter at the grocery store and filter it with a .2 um syringe filter.
Just get a 10ml syringe and attach the filter to the end, then put a 20g needle on the tip.

Not sure what any other answer there is bro...I would always filter my oils, no matter if they claimed sterility or not. Just follow the instructions Bonaparte gave ya on filtering and you will be GTG..

I hate to disagree with Bonaparte as he is a very smart guy, however I feel that you should always use USP grade oils. The USP sets a number of limits on various crap (technical term) that can be present in a vegetable oil for injection that are either not present or at much higher levels on vegatable oils for injestion in food products. However one should still at a minimum filter USP oils before use, myself I heat sterilize then after combining the other ingredients filter them just before adding the AAS to the individual serum vials.

A .22um filter is needed for sterility, a .45 will get out most crap but is not of an adequately small pore size to ensure sterility. As far as what to use if you are doing much filtering at all look into a whatman zap-cap and a handheld vacuum pump as syringe filters are a real pain in the ass.
