The young and steroids! This means you guys under 25!
Tonight the teenagers are really coming out of the woodwork.
I'm literally tired of writing the same advice over and over again to each of you.
I have decided to post "The Young and Steroids " written by Marcus300.
I hope this will help you to put into perspective what your are poking around in at your young age.
Get informed guys!

The young and Steroids
Due to the recent number of PM's ive been receiving regarding age and steroids I thought i'd write this thread to try and help some of our younger members. Ive also been having a conversation with my Endocrinologist who may give a more profession opinion on the subject:
There isn't an exact age were we all stop developing and growing because this is determined by our genes and DNA, we are all genetically programmed individually and we inherit our genes from our parents. To give an exact age we stop growing would be incorrect because everyone's genetic blueprint is different. The main development of our bodies is up to the age of 21yrs of age but this can vary between individuals. There are parts of our bodies what carry on developing and adjusting slowly up until the age of 25yrs old, an example of this is the brain. The Endocrine system is a part of the brain what is very complex and keeps our bodies in a homeostasis state. Our testosterone levels start raising and roughly peak around 25yrs old and then start to slowly decline, so even though some of us may have stopped growing at the age of 21yrs old, others may still be developing up until the age of 25yrs old.
I have recently spoken to my Endo regarding this matter and he tells me that the HPTA is very sensitive and as many pathways how it regulates the human body, he states steroids disrupt the normal balance of hormones in the body which can cause reversible and irreversible changes at any age but risks are far more if you administrate exogenous androgens during development, this will put you in a very unnatural environment at a crucial time and your hormones should be treated with care especially in the early stages of maturity. The adverse effects can be erratic behaviour of the HPTA and potentially therapy when your older.
I did ask him what age he would think would be the safest as far as risk to damages and he said many endocrinologist suggest full maturation is reached by 25 years of age and this would also give the HPTA time to be established with your natural hormone balance and patterns. I personally feel 24-25yrs old would also be ideal starting point to get bloodwrok drawn to see exact what your natural levels are before starting any kind of cycles and waiting till you have reach your testosterone peak would be a good starting point, for me there is to much evidence over the forums and what I've seen personally over the last 25yrs I've been bodybuilding . Obviously it isn't going to be all 19- 21yr old bodybuilders who suffer side effects what are irreversible but I am edging on the side of caution what age I advice to the newbies.

really nice thread! i really hope "the young" ( i am a part of it) will finally understand that aas can do big damage to our hormones since we are young, the question is : is having more muscles worth the chance to **** up your hormone levels for the rest of your life? I don't think it is worth it.

LOL, I was just saying I need to stay out of the Q&A section tonight due to all the newbies, more than usual being more idiotic than normal.

You need to be 18yrs old to post on this site, and you also need to read this thread in detail and the answer will become clear. Your to young to use steriods it will cause you more harm than good.

Are you being serious? Did you even read what he posted? And whoever gave you that advice is and idiot(no offense) but that is terrible advice... You are so young! You should not even consider using steroids for a really long time. Take advantage of your already high test levels and really work on getting a good routine and diet. I really hope for your sake that you do not take steroids at your age.

Having read this and the abundent amount of other literature available regarding AAS use and age I am still on the fence. I am 22 (I know presumably too young) and have been training with dedication for about 2.5 years. At 76" in I am 224 pounds on a good day and have held at this weight for about a year now. My question relating to age and AAS is if there are physiological cues of HPTA function being fully developed? Is this something that can be determined only through a horomone panel/ lab work?

Here is another Marcus300 quote (love this guys information) for you to read.
There are huge risk's involved if you consider cycling at young age. If you use steroids what will shut down your HPTA you run the risk of permanently damaging your HPTA and it never fully reaching its peak, these kind of symptoms what result from low testosterone are very hard to cope with especially from someone so young and in his 20's, do you really want to be suffering from depression, unable to get an erection, low energy, mood swings, shrunken testicles and many many more sides what are really bad to cope with at any age let alone in your 20's??.
Also there are a huge amount of young guys who haven't reached their natural potential, you should be researching foods and using the high level of testosterone you have naturally and building good quality muscle and creating a solid base, these are the foundations what you need in this game to be the best you possibly can.
Ive seen so many friends over the years who have started so young go on HRT in their 20's, the % is high of causing yourself damage if you start to young, this isn't coming from a 22yr old guy who thinks he knows it all, no its coming from someone who as over 22yrs of experience in this game and ive seen what low testosterone can do to someone and believe me you dont want to be dealing with the demons its brings on a daily basis.
There are exceptions and I also know guys who have recovered fine many times but there is a risk with the younger BB's and the odds are not in your favour IMHO

Pretty much sums it up thank you. I think I'll keep my interest and continue to learn more about AAS but it just doesn't seem to be a wise decision for me at this time. Appreciate the mentoring and advice offered to the inexperienced, thanks.

In the mean time learn about what eating to grow actually is. Go to the diet section, post your stats and your daily food intake item by item then ask for advice how to eat enough.
A good place to start is to learn what macros are and how you use macro knowledge.
