First injection - Glute is very sore
Two days ago I did my first ever injection. 1ml of test. enanthate . Used a 23x 1.5" needle and shot into my right glue (upper rh quadrant). I warmed up the vial in water (will use hotter water next time and let it sit longer) and used proper procedure (sanitary, put new needle on syringe after sticking vial, aspirated for signs of blood, etc.). I was surprised how painless it was- I didn't feel the needle enter and I took about a minute to slowly inject the test. Had a drop of blood on my glute afterwards, and I wiped up with an alcohol pad and thought I was good to go.
Later in the evening before bed, I definitely noticed I was getting pretty sore in that area. When I awoke the next morning, it felt like someone had hit me in the ass with a baseball bat. I actually had to force myself to not limp so my wife wouldn't wonder what was wrong. It's better today than yesterday, but pretty still pretty sore. No discoloration or signs of lumps, though.
Is this normal? If this is going to happen every time I inject, I don't know if I'll be able to complete the cycle. I guess I can take the pain, but it seems like this shouldn't happen and I'm worried that I may be doing damage of some sort.
I also bought some smaller needles for quad injections so I can rotate injection sites. If I felt this much pain in my glute, should I avoid quad injections? Any help would be appreciated.

First injections are always the worst they call it a 'virgin muscle' should get less painfull with each shot ,But il let a mod answer as iv never cycled just passing on what iv read .

Seems to me that out of the places I've shot - the bigger the muscle, the more it hurts if it's a "virgin injection" I only shot my butt a couple times and it was sore as a M.F. for several days after. My quads hurt too, but it's such a natural place to shoot that it's kinda my preference. The last few I put there were painless.

Totally normal. Probably won't happen every time, although I still get a little soreness when I do quads...but nowhere else. Everyone is different.
It could be that it is virgin muscle, or your gear can be a slight irritant. A lot of guys say they get pain from some Prop. Some guys seem to get discomfort from gear that has a higher dosage/concentration.
Stick a few places and see how it feels. Don't worry about it unless it swells or gets hot.
The mind plays a lot of tricks, so don't freak out.

It sounds to me like you did everything right oatmeal. Bi was right and the pain will gradually decrease with every injection and eventually it will go away. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just massage the area after you inject and maybe even apply a heat pad to help the oil absorb into the muscle faster. I even prefer to inject a muscle before working it in the gym, this will prove to assimilate the soreness from injecting to the soreness from working out and make it feel more natural, as well as enhancing the blood flow in that muscle for spreading the oil out even more.
It gets better

Its alright, next pin will be less and less painfull, try a heating pad after the pin for like 30 mins or try a rolling a tennis ball around the pin to help the oil get a bit more spreaded.

I like the tennis ball idea! My hand doesn't seem to cut it. Massaging after injection does seem to help a bit.

My first pin didnt hurt to the degree you are saying, but it was definitely the most painful. It was just a little sore for a day or two. after a couple pins, no more pain

OMG!!!! I've heard of this .... your ass-cheek is going to fall off...
seriously though.... what i have found to help is trying to stay off of the muscle for at least 15min post injection....what i mean is try not to walk around for about 15min or so post injection... clean up, put your stuff away, and go read a book/ f-off on the internet for the next 15 min... after that you should be good.....
can't wait to hear what your reaction is to the quad shot!!!!! hahaha
best of luck...Last edited by upperhandy; 02-03-2012 at 01:24 PM.

Hey guys, I saw this thread and had to post. I've just gone through the EXACT same thing. First stab on my very first cycle and I was shocked. I had no idea it was gonna be like that. It never felt dangerous or hot etc, just really sore. You're not alone Rick.

i use the same for Hormone Repla***ent Therapy. Been injecting myself for years. That soreness will eventually subside. also alternate between shoulder and glute. get different receptors.
also, just inject slowly. remember to alcohol swipe the top of the bottle before inserting the needle.
i use 23G1 for shoulder and 25G1 1/2 for butt. i never do quad.
swipe top of vial each time before inserting needle.

hahah honest story, I had a frantic call from a friend of mine who was pinning his friend in the glute well anyways he called me and said "I pinned him and he just dropped to the ground, I ran out of his house with the pin still hanging in his ass I think I might have killed him." I laughed pretty damn hard and told him he was a dick but didn't kill him just hit his nerve which was the case
Also, I've heard heating up the vials under some warm water can help and imo virgin quads were the worse and delts weren't bad at all just my two cents

First pin I was nervous as hell. After the needle went in I was shocked at how easy it was. It gets better as you do more injections. Injecting slower helps too with the pain.

An update:
The other day was injection #2. I shot into my left glute this time and awaited going through the same thing, but this time there was almost zero soreness. I made a couple of changes and I'd bet one or both is what made the difference. The first time, when I was purging air from the syringe, I stopped once I saw the test entering the syringe as I didn't want to waste any by waiting to see a drop come out of the end of the needle. In other words, there was air in the needle. This time I waited until I saw a tiny drop. Also, I took a look at a few websites that had injection sites for the glutes and some of them had them lower than others. For my second injection I lowered the injection site a bit into a meatier area of my cheek. I'm betting either one or both of these changes made a difference because I did everything else the same and went from a Hell of a lot of pain to almost none. Tomorrow is a quad shot!

Quads hurt too the first time.
I've also noticed there's some to do with each individual injection. Some hurt more than others, occasionally it's painless. Just depends on where/what exactly you're sticking into.
