Lump in glute a few days after injection. Normal or NO???
After injection my part of my glute muscle where I injected is like a solid lump. I use a 23 x 1" syringe. I have a headache from the reading I have done on this, so much conflicting info. I just want to know if this is normal or is it leaking out of muscle creating abscess?
Conflicting info from my reading:
Needle length to use:
Always use 1.5" in glute.
If you don't have lots of bf on glute use 1" not 1.5"(going to deep is dangerous)
Go halfway in
Go all the way in
Reasons for lump:
Normal
Abscess from not getting deep enough
If someone can clear this up from experience or known knowledge on this, please help me out. In meantime I am going to try Quad with my 1" needle. I have a low BF but still concerned i am not getting deep enough into muscle. I want to keep injecting in glutes as I heard this is way less painful than quads, which has still been quite painful.

Well, red and warm does not always mean it's infected. Poor injection technique and an unsteady hand could cause micro tears in the muscle. This will also cause redness, hardening and warm to the touch.
Wait 3 days, if it doesn't go down or go away, you're probably infected. Looking at it won't tell you anything in the initial stages.

How long have you been pinning? If I inject into scar tissue there will be a lump for a day to three.

I have been pinning for a week and a half. 3 pins next one tomorrow. I don't have any redness or warm to touch feeling. Had a lump/hardspot every injection. It slowly goes away in 4 or 5 days. I do hold needle as still as possible. I'm just not sure if this is normal or maybe an abscess of it leaking out of muscle...

What are you injecting? What volume is being injected? No problems with you prior injections?

If your injection process was sterile, more chances than not, you got a temporary situation. Give it a couple of more days it should go away.

I get lumps alot. I found by slowing down the depression of the plunger helps. If the process goes fast, I normally get lumps. If slow, I am usually good. Sometimes I get them regardless.

Alright thanks for the info guys. Guess I will check it off as normal. Think I will still try Quads tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to walk..
