Cycle to aid in Military Fitness/Performance
Evening gentlemen,
So I'm looking to take my fitness to the next level. I'm looking to increase my military fitness (Army, now switching Marine Corps). What this means is I would like a cycle to aid in helping me increase my muscular and cardio endurance, so the ablity to run, say 3-5 miles, very quickly as well as more lighter amounts of weights/bodyweight for high amounts of reps. Training wise, I wrestle/box three times a week, have four 3-5 mile runs, lift three times, and do about 4-5 speed/circuit workouts, so recovery is king.
One question I have in general is on flexability? How do steroids effect? I am open to any suggestions though, but i'm looking to stay lean and mean. Maybe some cycle along the lines of what a fighter/boxer/wrestler would use. I would say that is the type of "overall" fitness I am looking to achieve. I know a fighter who says hes actually a fan of only 20mg of anavar a day for 8 weeks (really low) because he likes that it's just a little boost and won't mess with test levels. I like the sound of that, but I worry about the tightening of muscles and pumps that could prevent my running. I need to hold an 18min 3 mile.
Stats: 26 years
5'11"
192 pounds
11-12% body fat
lots of powerlifting/strongman/running experience.
Thanks guys any info would be great or any personal results for endurance goals

I have a similar background...I do contract security work. Are you going to have it shipped to an APO? Do you mind shutting down your natural Test? Are you state side? Not in Iraq or Afghan are you? If you are in Iraq or Afghan I wouldnt be cycling...To much stress to deal with unless your willing to just stay on. Would hate the idea of having to run a PCT while being an a active zone. I know a lot of us cycle while were over there and just cruise so we dont deal with the come down. I cruise yearly regardless. I think you would get alot more out of a low dose of Test than you would a low dose of Var. And if im not mistaking 20mgs of Var would shut you down eventually.

Hey bud,
Steroids are a double edged sword. Higher test levels bring more muscle growth and faster recovery times but also can hamper your natural test levels. So you might run a 10 weeks cycle then during PCT your workouts could suffer. And thereafter you might have lower natural test levels. And you would have to keep cycling to get benefit's which would further reduce your natural test levels to where you could possibly need TRT or testosterone injections for life. Which obviously is not good.
My advice is to eat surplus of calories to help your body recover and keep fats up high for natural test production. A good multi-vitamin and Vitamin C and your set.

Wow some great responses. Thanks guys. Misery I'll shoot you that PM, I'm interested as well.
Capebuffalo could you elaborate on EPO, I actually don't know much about it, only heard the occasional talk. Is there a test base required or PCT there, and what's typical dose range and cycle length.
bp2000 yeah I see where you're coming from and I do agree, its a risk. I'm just looking for info, I'm not dead set on anything. I like to think I'm in good shape and I've never touched any type of drug in my life. But eat more, ha, if only you knew. I just threw down 4 PB sandwiches, a protein, and a can of tuna for before bed so I don't wake up from being hungry in the middle of the night. I do need to work on my red meats for test levels though, I'm pretty much chicken and eggs right now :/ Thanks!
Worst comes to worst, I should just build a sleep chamber haha.

i had a friend who cycled while he was downrange, the only complaint he had was that during our runs in the morning his calfs would cramp up like crazy. He still made his time for our two mile runs though.

The use of EPO is believed to increase oxygen absorption, reduce fatigue and improve endurance by increasing the rate of red cell production. It is also believed that EPO increases the metabolism and the healing process of muscles because the extra red cells carry more oxygen and nutrients.

EPO use is especially dangerous to athletes who exercise over prolonged periods. A well-conditioned endurance athlete is more dehydration resistant than a sedentary individual. The body accomplishes this by several methods, but one key component is to “hold on” to more water at rest. Circulating whole blood is one location in which this occurs and, thus, can function as a water reservoir. During demanding exercise, as fluid losses mount, water is shifted out of the blood stream (hematocrit rises). If one is already starting with an artificially elevated hematocrit then you can begin to see the problem – it is a short trip to the critical “sludge zone” (so drink enough liquids and don’t forget about aspirin!).

PB is my weakness haha. But no I slice of break has 3g of sugar and PB has 2g per serving, so there really isn't considering I don't put honey/jelly on it and only one slice of break per sandwich. 12% is actually on the high side too considering you can see my abs pretty well. That's besides the point. I do agree with you though, we can always clean up our diets more.
Not worrying about being "shredded" though, I'm looking for performance. I'm looking for a way to go run three miles in 18 minutes, do a million and a half push/pull ups, then go throw a ruck on and run for miles more quickly than I can now. I want to maximize my personal potential. Whether I look good or not doing those tasks and drill is unimportant to me. Don't need perfectly curved muscles to lay down an ass-whooping.
If anybody has military/combat sports experience with EPO lets hear about it
