I'm not sure how he's making massive gains on prednisone, as it's a corticosteroid, not an anabolic steroid . It's also a particularly nasty corticosteroid and I don't know anyone that would want to take it other than to treat a medical issue.

Food makes the gains. Prednisone opens appetite like crazzzzzzy. I could gain 20lbs on it in 2 months easily, but a lot turns to fat. He could be stacking with something else.

Cortisone (aka hydrocortisone) is a synthetic version of cortisol, which our body naturally makes and often increases in times of physical or even emotional stress. Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid that is relatively stronger than cortisone. Although they both possess glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid activity, the former effect is more dominant.

Their main glucocorticoid functions in the body are immune suppression and production of blood sugar. Prolonged exposure to elevated levels can also lead to muscle wasting, fat storage (central obesity), hyperglycemia, osteoporosis, agitation, and more.

I'm not doubting your friend's results. It just seems hard to understand how taking either prednisone or cortisone would improve one's physical appearance. Just looking at its functions one would expect it to have negative effects on someone's physique. Also, there is a lot of evidence that links elevated cortisol levels with obesity and decreased muscle mass.
