I've always used the barbell but feel my front delts take up most of the workload so they are overdeveloped compated to my side and rear delts even if I do laterals.

Do you think dumbbell shoulder press hits the heads more evenly compared to the barbell. Since your pressing straight up compared to pressing with the bar in front of you?

    Wats your experience on this?

This should be in the lifting technique section. You'll get more results from there.

That being said, I try to do both.

Yeah it would but the barbell can as well if you keep your core tight and don't let your back arch

I like to use dumb bells for all press exercises for the benefits you get from utilizing the stabilizing muscles. Additionally, over head presses (personally) have always felt awkward. I never could get a hand placement with a barbell that felt natural. Dumbbells take this out of the equation by allowing my hands to differ in distance throughout the motion.

I try to hit both. On the dumbbells I do what I call Armolds idk of that's what they really are. But twist in to an inboard grip on the way down to get a more complete workout of the shoulder

I never liked military press, or bar whatever you want to call it... dumbells all the way!

I like both but I find without help I have trouble getting dumbell's up and in the right position to begin the exercise when going really heavy. Even when I do I feel expel a lot of energy doing this that could otherwise be used during the actual exercise.

Ilike both, and also do "Arnold's" when using dumbbells.

Bar for the heavy stuff, I go behind the neck. Dumbells for the lighter stuff.

I agree with this especially if you are a tall guy it is a huge pain in the ass to get dumbbells up. I stick with the bar now or standing dumbells but dont go over 65

Yeah it is a pain dealing with dumbbells sometimes. What really stinks is if a gym doesn't have a lot of heavy ones and you can't get what you want. But I still like DB presses better. What I hate about the barbell is that on a lot of racks, when the weight is still racked it's so far behind me I feel like I'm tearing my shoulders apart just getting it off the rack if I'm trying to use any weight. I won't do these at all anymore if I'm lifting alone...I don't care what any one says, it's nice to have someone back there to help lift that crap off and get it in front of you. Anyway, maybe that's just me being a little baby, lol!

The form with dumbbells is quite tough but i prefer do with both. First decide with which form you are comfortable with and then do.

For muscular body, you just need to damage your muscle. The more you do the better results you get.

If i have to choose one then i will go with dumbbells.
