Resistance while pinning
Pinned for the first time in my delt, about 5 minutes ago. Is it normal to experience a fair amount of resistance on the plunger whuile trying to push it in?
I didnt expect it being a former IV drug user (the plunger has no reistance inside a vein), and ended up moving the needle around a bit much inside the muscle. My delt is pretty sore now.
It was a 25g pin if it makes a difference
All normal?Last edited by onetwonine; 07-18-2013 at 12:48 PM.

You guys are causing more pain and problems with your 25 gauge needles. I started like that, but its so hard to push the oil you end up doing more damage. Just going to a 23 gauge made night and day difference. Can hardly notice a difference going in and pushing the oil is way easier so the needle isnt moving around as much. Its easier to be smooth. Almost no pain and soreness now.

well when i goto my pharmacist to buy a syringe they dont ask me for what "gauge" they jst ask "1ml", "2ml" or "5ml".. i go with 2ml coz the needle is thinner than 5ml.. again no gauges.. anyways its been fine for me.. so im guessing its the higher gauge..

I'm gonna just come out with it. Almost all of your post don't make a bit of Fvckin sense. Really. When you buy a syringe with a needle you MUST specify the Gauge needle. WTF are you talking about. You are out of place. The syringe is a measurement 1mL 3mL 5mL
The needle is a gauge. A FVCKIN GAUGE . If you don't know what you are talking about shut the fvck up.
There is no gauge syringe. There is a measurement quantity. Gauge is measurement in size. Thickness and diameter etc..
So "god" without the fvckin capital do you pin with a 2mL syringe with an unknown needle size. That'd what you are saying. If that's the case, you buy what needle they just happen to give you...YOU don't have a clue as to what you are talking about....not so fvcking crazy mike

OP , I am an old IV user. What we used to do was water based what's how we heated it and made it liquid. It would pull thru you cotton filter and I the vein with ease. If you are using oil it will draw and plunge thru a 25 G very slow with some resistance. Whether it be oil or water base you are still pushing the fluid into dense muscle tissue and that in itself will cause a little resistance. Not much but more than in a vein with blood flow. Just not the same flow.
It's a different feeling and remember the fluid in the vein does not accumulate in a spot , pocket or even linger. It just picks up the flow and runs with it. ...crazy mike

This is not funny and it is just down right disrespectful. IMOP you screen name is a bit off color. Whether it stands for anything other, the implication and sight to me is disrespectful. It allows for different connotations as seen in this post above. It lends itself for ridicule and blasphemy. It clearly states biblically a man is guilty even if only he gives the appearance of sin.
Sorry not that this is bible study or a religious forum. I'm just saying I don't like your name and when you joke in that frame I can't respect you. ...crazy mike

I will also state that when pushing the fluid from a cylinder with a much larger inside diameter thus volume and thru a 25 Gauge orifice you will automatically cause the flow to of more velocity (hence pressure releasing PSC) and this can cause discomfort. ...crazy mike

wow that escalated pretty quickly..
i know what you guys r talking about but i was just giving my experience of buying syringes over here the syringes and teh needles come in one SEALED pack you CANT choose gauges.. just teh volume of teh syringe.. 1ml, 2ml,5ml.. maybe you could buy separate needles but i only used the ones that come in teh sealed packet and it dint hurt much..

the one i use, that i get along with teh syringe pack, no issues drawing (test e in arachis oil).. and no pain during injection or post.. so im guessing the gauge is at a sweet spot.. its slightly longer than 1 inch..
hope it clears all the confusion.. i was jst sharing my exp..
