Dose using steroids mess with your heart?

Ok... So this may be a completely insane question. But a few guys I work with say that doing cardio while using steroids is bad, which sounds crazy to me because, well, cardio is a huge part of what I do and I'm not sure why you would ever stop. Their reason being is they said your heart is a muscle and they more it works out, the more it grows. Please excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong, but that just sounds crazy. Any answers?

Yes, they can. But so can everything else on earth. The key is to monitor blood work and cycle safely. Drama with the folks on the heart in most cases. We'd all be dead otherwise.

I'm older and I have a prolapse mitral valve. I have suffered Acute bacterial endocarditis which is an infection growing on the valve. I received treatment before a replacement and all has been good since 84'. I've been doing heavy cycles of Test and Tren etc.. I have just had all the tests imaginable to see how my heart is and I'm good to go. My heart is proper size and my valves look good.

When I'm on Test (like always I am) I have no problem riding the stationary bike to burn fat tissue. My cardio doesn't suffer and I'm good to go. No problem, like they say other things are going to kill you first. IMOP ...crazy mike

Doing cardio on cycle is a must IMO. The positive effects on your LDL/HDL are unparalleled. Using your friends analogy lifting weights on cycle would be bad to. My heart beats like it is going to rip through my chest when in super-setting a few exercises!

This issue would really take an entire term paper to properly explain.

Lifting heavy and/or having high blood pressure will enlarge your heart in a negative way (left ventricular hypertrophy).
Cardio (at a reasonable pace) strengthens the heart through a number of means in a positive way (increased cardiovascular efficiency, reduced BP, improved cholesterol, etc).

Most steroids won't have much direct effect on the heart's size (not many human trials out there, and results are mostly anecdotal or based on huge doses given to rats for a few weeks).
