a new compound similar to "the Clear"?
So we all know about the BALCO scandal. If not: in summary, a sprint coach sent a used syringe containing an undetectable steroid nicknamed "the clear" to the Anti-Doping agency. A pharmaceutical firm named BALCO was accused of producing and distributing it to professional athletes. Apparently the only reason they were able to detect it, was because they had the sample of the original drug.
So that brings me to my question: If they were able to produce one undetectable steroid, what would simply stop someone from producing any further number of new undetectable steroids ?- and THIS TIME just make sure no pissed off coach gets their hands on a sample of it?.....
I think that this must be the case? I mean Lance Armstrong's samples were CLEAN for almost 10 years- until they developed some new technique and found his old samples (they keep them frozen) to be all positive with the new test.
Are AAS use rampant in professional sports that are supposed to be "tested"?

I'm good right now unless my gym starts testing for anabolics.

I could care less about who is on and who is off; but I think it's naive to think that a very large portion of sports stars use or have use PID's. Here's the thing though: if almost everyone is using PID's, then it's not cheating; cheating by definition is taking action that creates an unfair advantage. If everybody is using then there is no advantage, PID's simply become a requirement to remain competitive.
At least that's my two cents.

When the difference between running a 4.1 40 and a 4.5 40 could mean millions of $. Guys are going to do whatever it takes to be better. Is AAS use "rampant" in pro sports? Who knows? With the pressures to perform daily and the limitations of human performance. I wouldn't be surprised if the AAS usage is high.

The clear from balco and the cream were based on the way testing used to be done. For every molecule of testosterone your body produces it produces a molecule of epitestosterone, So the cream and the clear were just equal mixes of each since the old test compared the two numbers.
Modern testing no longer uses this method, It uses a testosterone level check plus a ratio of test to estrogen. Look it up on the steroid .com write up of the cream and the clear

^^ (really good article)
Test: epitest is still used.
Estrogen testing has never been the standard.
With mass spec, they can also differentiate synthetic from natural testosterone based on the number of carbon-12 vs carbon-13 metabolites in the urine.
