Im wondering about the same thing, how long after the expiredate is it still useable? Does it just loose some effect? And what is the main reason behind the expiredate when it's fine eitherway?

Steroids do not have a predisposition for breakdown. The reason steroids have a expiration date is due to micro-organisms that "feeds" on the drug molecules breaking them down.

Most medical product have a formal, printed expiration date which is shorter than its "real" expiration date. They do this purly for legal reasons, because if the medicine causes unusual problems before it expires, they will be in a shitload of trouble.

    What?
No microorganisms can feed on sex hormones.
Besides, injectable solutions are supposed to be sterile. So if you have bacteria in there, losing drug potency would be the least of your worries.
