Life insurance in the UK

Hi. I've applied for whole life cover in the uk and I stupidly admitted to AAS use to my doctor a year back so I declared it to my insurance provider when they quoted me so they didn't have a loophole to not pay out. I've since been declined cover with legal & general. I'm presuming there must be others in the uk that use AAS and have life cover. If so who are you insured through?

I'm not in the UK, the U.S. But here that is an automatic decline for minimum 3 yrs most carriers for 5 yrs. I commend your honesty but at the end of the day you admitted to illegal IV drug use.

Honestly I am kicking myself for even mentioning it to my doc now but it would have been found on tests they was going to run.

It's not illegal to use in the UK, only possess although now it would seem it is frowned upon by insurers.

I think I'm going to leave it for another few years then apply again (no choice really) as now it'll show on any applications I make as I'll need to declare I've been declined for insurance. Any tips for making a successful future application would be great.

Literally just went on compare the market then went from there. Ultimately I think I may go through an advisor though if I am having problems.

Not all providers will ask about previous declines, and depending on the level of cover, you may not need a medical.

L&G are always fairly cheap, but this is because of the number of conditions they pay out for. They'll only pay out on limited number of Critically ill / Terninslly ill situations. Plus, they limit the conditions they will take you on with

Others will accept a much wider range of conditions and still cover you.
