EXAM READING / Davi
Learn to interpret your exams.
So let's start with the men's total testosterone reference range:
total testosterone
In adult men, the reference values for total testosterone are as follows:
Men aged between 21 and 49 should have total testosterone in the range of 241 to 827 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) of blood.
Men aged 50 and over should have total testosterone in the range of 87 to 789 nanograms per deciliter of blood.
Then we have the reference range for
free testosterone
Free testosterone levels vary by lab.
Men up to 17 years old do not have established reference values.
Men between the ages of 17 and 40 should have free testosterone levels between 3 and 25 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) of blood.
Men between 41 and 60 years old should have this value between 2.7 and 18 nanograms per deciliter of blood.
For men over 60, free testosterone values should be between 1.9 and 19 nanograms per deciliter of blood.
Here we go to the reference range for E2 estradiol )
The reference values for serum estradiol vary according to the analysis performed in the laboratory where the collection was performed. Generally, in men, this hormone must be on average less than 52.0 pg/mL. In children, the value must be less than 18.0 pg/mL.
So here we go to the HCT reference range in a nutshell
The reference values of the CBC complete blood count generally vary according to the sex and age of the patient, however, it is also possible to observe differences in the values depending on the laboratory where the collection was performed.

Men: below 20 ng/mL
In men, normal LH levels are between 1.5 and 9.3 mIU/mL.
FSH
The FSH level considered good is 10.0 IU/L or below. In children, before puberty, the recommended value is up to 4.0 IU/L.

Urea reference values
The values vary according to each laboratory. On average they are:
Adults: between 13 and 43 mg/dL.
Urea level is high. What it means?
When urea levels are high it can be a sign that the liver or kidneys are not working well.
creatinine
The normal creatinine value should be between 0.7 and 1.3mg/dl (men) .

Types of Cholesterol
There are 3 types of cholesterol, which are different fractions of total cholesterol. We have separated the main information about each of them. Check out!
LDL cholesterol
LDL cholesterol is a low-density lipoprotein, popularly known as “bad” cholesterol.
This fraction of total cholesterol accumulates in the walls of blood arteries, and when its levels are high it also increases the risk of developing coronary heart disease, such as arterial insufficiency, myocardial infarction or stroke.
Adequate levels of LDL cholesterol in healthy people should be below 130 mg/dL blood and for people who are at risk, levels should not exceed 70 mg/dL.
HDL cholesterol
HDL cholesterol is a high-density lipoprotein, popularly known as “good” cholesterol that protects us from LDL (“bad” cholesterol).
This fraction of total cholesterol has the main function of extracting LDL cholesterol from the arteries and washing it to the liver where it will be broken down and excreted later.
Therefore, the higher the levels of HDL, the lower the risk of contracting cardiovascular diseases.
Adequate levels of HDL cholesterol should be greater than 40 mg/dL of blood.
VLDL Cholesterol
VLDL cholesterol is a very low density lipoprotein, produced in the liver and its main function is to transport triglycerides through the bloodstream.
This fraction of total cholesterol is directly linked to the amount of triglycerides and their levels are directly influenced by our diet.
What is a total cholesterol test?
Total cholesterol is the sum of the various cholesterol fractions, that is, the union of LDL, HDL and VLDL cholesterol.
Values considered normal for total cholesterol should be around 200mg/dL; Slightly high when they are between 200 and 239 mg/dL and high when they are above 240 mg/dL.
