Yup, hitting a nerve is one of the most awful experiences during an injection. Luckilly this time around I've only hit one and moved the needle a bit and avoided further pain.
btw, your avatar should be illegal, making me wicked jealous.

Yikes, I guess Iucked out. I went 12 weeks and never hit a nerve or a vein -ALWAYS went slow.
And every single shot was almost totally painless. I was never able to feel it actually break the skin either, it just slid in. I'd always made sure the needle was lubed with a few drops of the oil before proceeding, after expelling any air fro the syringe..

Personally I ice it, then push in slow. I use a 23guage so i can feel it break skin sometimes.
The only thing that kinda gets on my nerve is when pulling it out I can feel it sometimes tear a bit more skin... I think because their cheap vet needles. It doesn't hurt, just the little sound makes it seem like it should... but its fine.
I've hit a few veins, but because i go slow i just move it over to the side usually and continue.

i go slow and would tell everyone to go slow. if you dart it and hit a nerve its to late.sure you may hit it anyway but you mey not damage it as much if you go slow and are able to stop.

It never crossed my mind to try to "dart" the syringe in there. It sounds potentially messy. Also, if it bounces out, you have wasted a pin. Slow and careful is the way for me. I can only feel the first 1/4" anyway.

In my delts and ass nice and fast dart it in baby, but in my legs slow slow. I find darting it in hurts less for me especially if you have scar tissue in your ass, just dart it in and away you go, unless the needle jumps off your skin ( sometimes ) i hate that unnecasarry pain.

-

i darted the first 3 injections....then i hit a nerve and it hurt like a bitch. now like many others have said i dart it through the skin, then push in nice and slow. I pushed it slow through the skin once or twice but I just dont enjoy that...oh how to say it...initial sharp pain and the tearing that follows. peace

I used to take "Injectable German Creatine" What can I say, I'm a 16 year old. lol. I've always used the slow method, it doesnt hurt nearly as much and it prevents the swelling bruises as well. Plus if you hit a vein you can die from what I hear. And if you hit a nerve it hurts like no other...Go with the slow method and be safe.

otherwise i slowly push it in, especially in the quads and delts

Always doit slow, never been afraid of needles but the thought of ramming it in REALLY freaks me out. Ive taken aim and told myself Im just going to jam it in but have never brought myself to actually doing it.
I thought most ppl used the dart method as the feeling of breaking through a couple layers of skin then the muscle isnt painfull, but not a very "natural" feeling.
-

slow all the way. it just seems more natural. darting seems scary...

I have done both but most of the time I do it slowley. You can not really tell that much of a difference either way. You do enough shots and you get used to it.
-

don't you darters like the feeling of that needle sliding in smoothly and watching it slowly disappear? Or maybe I'm a masochist(sp) !! jk!

After hitting a nerve one time I learned you take your time. I couldn't imagine darting into a nerve fast.

Dart method is much less painful.
Dart for me.

Yeah, i prefer slow...i dont like hitting any nerves, and there is no need to rush. It'll go in SO nicely, if you have a brand new pin. If you're drawing it from a sealed bottle that is, you'll dull the needle tremendously if you go through the seal a couple times. And the seal could be contaminated as well.. so just grab a brand new pin and screw it on the top of ur syringe!

I dart it most time. It really works if you get used to it. Sometimes I lose confidence in the dart method and apply the needle slowly but still rather quickly.

**** tha dart method. Not only does it hurt like a bitch from the quick stick, but your more apt to swelling and bruising.

Well, I've now done both methods. My first cycle was all "dart" method. My 2nd cycle I take my time and slowly push the pin in. Pushing the pin in is SOOOOOOOOOOO much easier and I actually get into it. Now, I look foward to injection days!! Newbies, take my advise, and do it slowly.
