    Hairloss worse on finasteride?

Noticed hair thinning few years back. Never really bad. Used minoxidil. 32 years old. Decided to hop on fin 1 mg last March. Didn't really see anything initially. In August I decided to drop the fin dose to .5 mg due to no morning wood. Did that and now I feel like my hair has gotten so much worse than baseline. My hair looks and feels dead and still have massive shedding now. Anyone know if fin can make hair worse?. I have diffuse thinning so thinning all over. Should I drop the fin entirely or bump it back up to 1 mg and stay on for least a year? Or drop it and try that RU stuff. Although possible heart issues scare me about that stuff .

    Thanks!

Not sure will have to get it checked. I want to stay on and give it a full year but feel like body comp wise I don't look as good without the dht. Not sure if in my head or not.

It is not in your head. DHT is an androgenic hormone and responsible in part for the hard dry look we sometimes want. Finasteride works fast to lower DHT, so after two to three weeks of daily use, you should be able to pull blood work.

Makes sense. Wasn't sure if true since a lot of pro body holders take it. Chris bumstead was on it for a while. So wasn't sure why they would use it if their whole career is based on their body. Any good alternates I can take instead of it. Heard saw palmetto can help?

In my experience, nothing will reduce DHT like finasteride. Dutasteride is stronger, but I will not use it because of the long half life (something like 12 days, IIRC).

Microdosing is key with finasteride. And pros that do use finasteride still likely have DHT in the normal to high range because of the test and other drugs they use.

Example: lets say you use 200mg test plus 200mg masteron , along with a microdose of 50mcg per day of finasteride. 50mcg will generally reduce DHT by 50%, more or less. With just the test in play, this would likely keep your DHT in range. But you add that masteron... No, the masteron doesn't elevate DHT directly, though it has 2 properties that are of interest here. First, it ALMOST IS DHT, so it has the hardening effects that people look for. Finasteride won't do anything about this. Second, masteron lowers SHBG pretty radically in my experience, so there is more opportunity for 5alpha reductase (and aromatization into estrogen) to do its thing. So, while you get a 50% reduction in DHT levels, they would elevate because of the lowering of SHBG.

Just as an example and keeping it simple, if 200 test got you to 100 DHT, then you added finasteride at 50mcg, you would expect a 50 DHT level. That is about what you would get with the test alone. But, then the masteron lowers SHBG, allowing more test to convert to DHT, so you might be sitting at 60 to 80 DHT with the mast in play.

And be advised that neither finasteride nor dutasteride destroy DHT. They both lower the effectiveness of the 5alpha reductase enzyme to prevent DHT from being created in the first place.

Thank you man interesting read! I guess I just gotta decide if it worth staying on. Feel like I should of saw results by now but who knows. Maybe pick up some 2% keta shampoo and supplement saw palmetto in place of the fin?
