The steroids were not the likely cause, but it is entirely possible that an infected injection site or an infected absess could have been the cause. That doesn't mean that the steroids themselves are to blame at all, but rather the unsanitary use or abuse of the injectable solution. In all likeliness, he could have had the same result from injecting vitamin B-12.

I swear the world is completely full of ignorant people who have no problem opening their mouths to express this ignorance freely. We are all surrounded by idiots.

Exactly...not enough information. This congressional hearing is just a rubber stamp for more bans on dietary supplements, another pre election victory for Bush after he highlighted it in his State of the Union. Having ex athletes testify that their health problems were causes by steroid abuse is just silly, where are the docs and researchers?

I hate to start a political debate here, but if you think you've got it bad now, this is a sure-fire way to make it much worse. Do a little research on Socialism, then see just how closely Kerry's ideas, and a lot of other democrats as well, resemble these ideas. Then look back in history at the outcome of other governments who embraced Socialist ideas, and where they are now.

The general public will never like the idea of people using steroids , simply because they will not take the time, nor do they have the intelligence, to look at it objectively. President Bush and his team of advisors know this, and know that if he takes an anti-steroid stance, it will result in more votes. This type of thing happens every four years in this country, and once the elections are over, the heat will suside on our little community. But please, don't make an uncomfortable situation into a disaster by voting for John Kerry. I have nothing to gain from this, but have a lot to lose if he is elected.

If you have any doubts, read up on Socialism a little, please.

It's amazing to me how our society will attempt to villify that which they do not understand...nor, take the time/effort to understand. They flood the media with propoganda about the "evils" of steroid use and how those who choose to use these chemicals are nothing more than common criminals. So, they create laws against the use/distribution of, not only AAS, but all performance enhancing substances with the hopes of garnering votes and appeasing the public. After all, "we're protecting the children." I have not seen one post...NOT ONE...in this forum where any individual under the age of 18 (21, for that matter) has been given any advise other than to NOT use AAS until a later age. Our government has done the same thing with other "controlled substances." Has it stopped the use of these drugs?...NO....has it curbed the supply of these drugs coming to the US?...NO. When will people finally get it? If there is a demand...there will be a supply, regardless of the laws. Congress needs to be less concerned with AAS use and more concerned that US citizens are paying $2/gallon for gas....just my .02 GD
