Hey Frank Frank, you seem like a big anaerobic athlete. Have you ever did a wingate test?? It tests for anaerobic power.

Just wondering? I beat you would produce some killer watts at the beginning. Basically it is done on a bike. They will put a certain amount of bodyweight as resistance, have you start pedaling as fast as you can, then drop the resistance on the bike and you keep going as hard as you can for 30 seconds. Most of the time multiple sets are performed, with 3-4 minutes recovery.

Yes, I am a Exercise Physiologist and participate in studies in our Human Performance Lab. We kinda do it first for a pilot study. We tested creatine and wingates, and tested if aerobic capacity aids in recovery and different stuff like that. I am by no means a sprinter, just a recreational bodybuilder!!

Man, I loved the 400...actually it was the 1/4 mile when I ran, so it was a little longer, I never got below 50 sec, though, and my best was in the 51's. Of course I was a string bean then, probably about 155 lbs, but always figured, heck, I can do anything for a minute! I never even tried anything longer, cuz I can't even imagine running hard for a while, THEN sprinting a 1/4 mile! Either way, now that I'm older, I'm sucking wind if I hit a triple in softball, or score from 1st. That's only 65 yards! Out!

400 is great.
The first (of every season) is the worst.
than it only gets better. while getting stringer during the season you feel great after running a 400. you feel like you can't walk anymore.. have to lie down...sleep. but after 10- minutes you're ready to start jogging again. The next day muscle pain isn't very pleasant.
this year i wanna try for a sub 48.
