Canned Tuna
I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about canned tuna. I was watching the news but I can't exactly remember what it said, but itwas something like it was bad for you b/c of high amounts of mercury or something like that. Then, my g/f come back from the chiropractor, and hands me this paper that says toxic foods to avoid and one was tuna!! I eat like 2-4 cans a day....anyone know anyhting about this?

To reduce the risk stick with chunk light and not white albacore tuna as it has the highest concentrations of Mercury. Also, while this may not have been much of a problem to date there is the possiblity that as this is a pollutant related problem it may be a steadily worsening condidtion. And while we may think it is safe thus far, it should be noted that chronic HG poisoning is very subtle and not readily identifiable on the surface of it's symptoms. I still love the stuff mixed in with my eggs so I don't know what I'll do if it does get worse.

Yeah, it gets tough to tell what is media bullshit and what is valid. I believe also that it would take ridiculous amounts to affect a healthy adult but definitley detrimental to preg. women.

shark, mackerel, and sordfish have about three times more mercury as canned tuna(BTW canned or fresh is about the same). shellfish have about three time less Hg than the majority of fish. good news if you like crabs, lobster, shrimp and crawfish.

Tuna reminds me of bad pussy.
I stick to canned chicken instead from Costco, Kirkland brand.

I only eat tuna once or twice a week. I stick to other forms of protein. Tuna may be convinient, but it gets nasty after awhile, and now this...I think I'll stick to my twice a week and enjoy my turkey chicken breasts.
