Bed Time Question
I tend to get very hungry during the middle of the night. How bad is it to have a protein shake and throw a banana in it before bed. I find it keeps me from waking up hungry.

if i have to have something, i'll do a shake.
i'd ditch the banana.....then again, all depends on your current goals, nutritional needs, the season, etc etc.
you know your body best!
in the winter, if im really hungry, i like a bit of cottage cheese. sticks with me thru the night.

Try 12 hour Dymatize protein shake. It's time released to help one get through the night it works pretty good.

Casein is recommended before bed.

Seems Im not alone. I usually wake up and have a whey shake or eat a banana or some yogurt.

I put myself on an IV drip and it has been working great.

i go casein with EFA. to be honest with you, waking up and slamming down a shake as long as it fits within your calorie/macro requirements and its zero carb.. id say hell yea go with it as it will keep you more anabolic throughout the night.

If you're going to do a shake, please don't use casein.
1 scoop of whey in some water + 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil will do the trick.

if you have the money i think your best bet is EFA with lean protein beef source liek london broil...but i go casein because hell it takes longer for the body to digest keeping me more anabolic through the night.. and wtih an added EFA soruce of fish oils

Ive been drinking 16 oz of eggbeaters egg whites with a scoop of casein protein and a tablespoon of PB right before bed.
Next morning, 16 oz more with whole wheat bagel and cream cheese fat free .

Simply because I don't believe in casein - and whey is better than nothing. Plus, EFAs and Protein are synergistic - they achieve a greater effect together than alone. They form lipoproteins.
As we consume more protein, the toxicity of that protein becomes more apparent, and with the addition of EFAs it lowers the toxicity.
I would say whey + water + EFAs before bed, and then one again in the middle of the night 4 hours later or so when you whiz. This works best for ME personally. Give it a try.

London broil right before bed, then chicken or turkey in the middle of the night to help when I whiz and am super hungary (I weigh and pre package it to make sure I don't overeat), I also try to take a few fish oil caps with it.
