    Clean diet

Hi I'm just starting a new cycle, and I know I need to consume around 4000 calories of clean diet food. But im not forsure what "clean" means. I'm the type of guy who eats whatever is in front of me. Please let me know what I need to look for on the nutrition label and stuff like that. Thanks, all help Is appreciated!

hey bro im a newbie but here are some basics i know. - i mean really basic

first off you need to post your stats and your goals so people can assist you.
    - calculate your TDEE so you know exactly how many calories you need.
    - by clean they mean balanced and healthy of course. if you are trying to bulk up you should aim for a breakdown of 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat
    - protein - you need to consume 1.5g of protein per pound of your body weight. eg if you weigh 100 pounds you need 150grams protein. (i certainly hope you weigh more than that)
    - carbs - try to consume mostly complex carbs as these are better for you.
    - drink around 2 litres of water a day
    - multi vitamins and fish oil are also essentials.

umm ive had a mental blank ill post more as i think of them

^^ with that attitude, you're not going to get much help around here. Suggest you drop it and humble down a bit.

Nobody's lecturing you; somebody who is more knowledgeable than you is looking out and giving you sound advice. Like it or not, he's right. You don't know what 'clean' food is yet you're running gear... doesn't sound like you have your priorities in order to me. BUT - it's your body, your choice. All we can do is offer you good advice based on experience, it's up to you to take it. But you didn't come here for that, you asked a specific question. What I consider clean - the short answer:

Anything you can hunt, grow, or pick. We're basically talking about foods in their natural state, unprocessed, etc. The extreme side of this would be to consume only organic, grass fed, free range, etc - but we don't all have the money for that. What you can start doing is paying attention to things like nitrates and nitrites, preservatives, etc. If the label has more than a few ingredients in it, most of which you can't even sound out, chances are it's not what would be considered 'clean'.

    Meat/Fish/Poultry/Eggs - proteins

Oats/Grains/Lentils/Beans etc - starchy complex carbs

Leafy Green veggies - fibrous complex carbs

    Fruits - simple carbs

    Avacado/Nuts/Nut Butters/Oils - fats

    Hope this helps.

This all boils down to stats, goals, etc. You mentioned you need to eat 4000 calories/day - how did you arrive at that number?

Just from what I read on other threads. I don't care about gaining 20 pounds or so I just want to build as much strength as possible.

Constructive criticism is welcomed here... blantant insults like the bold are not. I suggest you apologize and change your tune or you won't be around here for long.
