    Clomid and TRT

Here is a link that does a very good job summarizing the use of Clomid and male TRT.

i am really curious why clomid has not caught on yet. every vet here is on test, not a single one is on clomid. but its certainly not new info from new research. the papers quoted in your link dated back to 1995! if i were to need hrt soon, i would certainly consider clomid first.

I agree with what you say. But there are some people who tried clomid. I also happen to be of the opinion that I would first start on clomid if I could go back in time. Unfortunately, we only get a small piece of the HRT pie on forums. I always try to remind us that the forums are just a small portion of all the thousands to millions of men who are on TRT. Beyond that, we mostly turn to forums when we ran into problems and sought to self-educate.

What do you think the chances are of someone posting on a forum if they started HRT and loved it and thought their doctor was doing a fine job? You can probably guess what I figure.

I tried clomid only a little over a year ago with no success. My first doc put me straight on test cyp 300mg eow with no hcg or ai. After learning some, I told him I wanted hcg, he referred me to an endo who tried clomid 25mg ed for 3 months. My t dropped even lower than pre trt. I also had major mood swings, depression, and low energy and no sex drive.. It was miserable. Shortly after that I went to dr. Crisler and he designed a highly personalized approach which included frequent sub q test cyp and I've been really stable ever since. Everyone is different and one size fits all isn't beneficial to anyone.

    Thansk for sharing that.

Did you try other doses of clomid? Or was it so bad you just abandoned that ship as soon as you could?

that must have been a terrible time for you. is Dr Crisler able to explain why your test got even worse than before? you werent suffering from primary hypogonadism right?

Originally my I believe I was secondary as my lh and fsh were pretty low, however thanks to my primary care physician, who thought he could just put me on test cyp 300mg eow for a year then I should "bounce back" I didn't see any improvement in lh or fsh with clomid, leading me to believe I'm now both primary and secondary. I didn't try any other doses as I was nearing the end of my rope and even had depressing almost suicidal thoughts. I just wanted back on test. I will say that before going back to test with dr c, the endo had me on hcg 2000iu 3 x a week. This did bring my total up on the 500s if I remember correctly, however I didn't feel anywhere near how I felt on test. Not an acceptable quality of life even though the numbers were "normal". Another great thing I've experienced with dr Crisler. He actually cares how you feel, not just the "normal" numbers.

I never really asked him about that. I assume it is because my body was used to exogenous test and as it didn't respond to the clomid, I just had no source of test either from the testicles or exogenous test cyp.

The reason it didn't work for you because your HPTA was shutdown. Clomid stimulates the pituitary to send LH to your balls. If your balls (and LH- FSH) were shutdown (by your synthetic test injections for 1 year) they couldn't produce any testosterone , hence the reason your test dropped! If you would have done the Clomid first you would have had much better results.
