    Finasteride? Doesn't sound good.

I’ve been thinking I had low T symptoms for a couple years but never asked Dr. to check until my annual physical this year so he requested the test. My testosterone serum came back at 307 ng/dl. He referred me to the Endocrinologist who requested additional tests. As the first test was fasting for other BW and taken in the am when test levels are at their highest; the second was done in the afternoon. The results are as follows:
    Test serum - 210 ng/dl Free test - 9.2 pg/ml, Estradiol - 10.5 pg/ml, LH - 4.4 mIU/mL

No clear "cause" of low T (older age?) I'm 52 somewhat overweight at 215 and 6'0". I’m on
“stuff” for cholesterol, high BP, and also on Flomax for BPH and something for ED.

He put me on 200mg test cyp every 2 weeks and also wrote a script for Finasteride due to being treated for BPH. I think there is some concern and risk of prostate cancer? Urologist tells me the prostate is only slightly enlarged and my PSA is 1.3 so I have some reservations about the Finasteride. I have read there are some ugly side effects that can be permanent including ED and other $exual dysfunction. Anyone taking Finasteride? What are your thoughts?

I'm no expert but I would seriously question the administration of Finasteride for BPH - and I think it's overkill if you are already taking Flomax and something for ED. You're right; Finasteride has known antiandrogenic side effects - and with low T, that is definitely NOT what you want. I'd stay FAR away from it. I'm 66 with BPH and take Flomax and 10mg Cialis daily along with natural supplements and I'm doing just fine.

200mg Test Cyp every two weeks is an archaic protocol. Too many highs and lows. Ask him to let you self inject 50mg every 3.5 days - which many on this forum do.

Also, you PSA is rather low at 1.3; less than 4.0 being in the safe zone. Mine is 2.9 and I'm not concerned - as long as it remains consistent. So I'm wondering why there is a concern for prostate cancer. (?)

    Keep asking questions.

I was thinking I would do at least a weekly schedule instead of 2 weeks. I guess I would have to get additional syringes prescribed.

You could do once weekly but you'll like twice weekly better, IMO. And syringes are not an issue because you can get them online without a script and it's legal.

Yea, I've read nothing but horrible things regarding Finasteride. I'm 52 and, like 2Sox, taking daily cialis. A month ago, my psa was .3. And, I pee like a race horse. The sexual benefits are awesome for guys our age. Glad you're researching.
