Question regarding DHT
I just had a hormone panel come back via saliva test and was startled at how LOW my DHT was. It seems like its impossible low <10 (<60). This explains why my sex drive isnt up to par along with my estradiol also being out of range. Im surprised though Ive always struggled with acne and am experiencing hairloss at a young age (very genetic mind you). How can my DHT levels be so low and what do I do from here?

Using Testosterone gels instead of injecting usually raises DHT. But for some, that isn't an option.
I've also heard of DHT cremes/gels.
Mesterolone (Proviron , Provironum) is a dihydrotestosterone (DHT) derivative. I haven't read that it raises DHT levels, but it does seem to help with the symptoms.

Ya those are the two thing I was thinking Ill have too see what my doctor thinks. For whatever reason I have a belief lodged in my head that cremes dont work as well as injections so the idea of beginning one kind of scares me to be honest. Ill ask my doc if she knows of proviron Ive also read it can be quite beneficial to libido for some but not sure on its long term use

I'm not a fan of Testosterone gels for a couple reasons (mainly dose control, and I have a lot of contact with a large number women and am worried about transferring), but their ability to raise DHT is not disputed much.
And it looks like a DHT creme/gel although effective for men, could have worse effects than Testosterone in women if transferred. That scares me.
Been thinking my DHT might be a little low and as the DHT blood test isn't available here, decided to stop by and pick up some Provironum (Bayer Schering Pharma). Gotta say the package insert is an interesting read.
Complaints attributable to androgen-deficiency, such as reduced efficiency, easy fatigability, lack of concentration, weak memory, disturbances of sleep, depressive moods, and general vegetative complaints, can be improved by the use of Provironum tablets.
Provironum improves deficiency symptoms in cases where a loss of gonadal function has occurred postpuberally.
Also read on the Interwebs that Mesterolone increases fat burning.
Of course, there's a downside...
If, in individual cases, frequent or persistent erections occur, the dose should be reduced or the treatment discontinued in order to avoid injury to the penis.
In rare cases benign and in even rarer cases malignant liver tumours leading in isolated cases to life-threatening intraabdominal haemorrhage have been observed after the use of hormonal substances such as the one contained in Provironum.Last edited by OingoBoingo; 10-16-2014 at 08:53 PM.

I've used proviron . It great. But I've never used it longer than 3 weeks at a time. And I only take 1 tab/day. It is hard on the hair though. I have seen guys who take 3 tabs per day and then within 5 days their hair takes a hit...

Finally got some time to do a little experimenting, and here's my story.
The Provironum (Proviron ) package lists a few different conditions where it might help. Two that caught my eye were Hypogonadism and and Erectile Dysfunction.
The suggested routine for Hypogonadism is one 25mg tablet three times a day. By the second day, I noticed an increase in libido, and it was easier to achieve orgasm. Unfortunately, on the forth day I experienced some restricted urine flow. Quit Provironum cold turkey, and urine flow was back to normal in four days.
Took a 5-week break to clear out before having some blood work done, and then decided to try the ED routine. I should mention that in the 5-week off period that I met a guy who says he takes four 25mg tablets every day, and he's a walking hard-on. Had to scratch my head on that one. Although it must be said that he's a guy who takes a lot of different stuff; very big into HGH.
The Provironum package insert says that for ED take two 25mg tablets whenever increased performance is desired. Gotta say I liked it, and there was no problems with urination.
Since then, I've been taking about two 25mg tablets per week (for about 6-weeks now), and still haven't noticed any negative sides. Most noticeable effects have been increased libido, easier orgasm, and my voice has deepened considerably.
My plan is to continue taking Provironum periodically, and will post any developments here.Last edited by OingoBoingo; 01-07-2015 at 12:36 AM.

Forgot to mention E2.
Before taking Provironum, I took 0.25mg Anastrozole every eight days or so when I experienced symptoms that my E2 was rising.
In my case, Provironum has had a significant impact on the above schedule, enabling me to go a couple weeks without Anastrozole.
Additionally, I found that I can drink alcohol again (not including beer) without having a high E2 episode when I'm on Provironum. Although I've been proceeding very slowly on that.
Don't know if it's a coincidence, but have suspected that my bacne was somehow related to E2, and the bacne has disappeared after trying Provironum for a few weeks.
Will make sure to get a PSA next time to make sure the Prostate isn't suffering.

Rjay, I'm not a big fan of saliva tests, so I'd recommend blood work including DHT and PSA as a baseline before experimenting with Proviron .
Although I believe that I've received some benefits from Provironum, I'm not ready to throw out the Anastrozole. I will continue to take Provironum periodically, and track things on my calendar.

One other thing: If you're experiencing hair loss, there's a good chance that supplementing with DHT or Proviron will worsen the situation.
I too experienced hair loss at a young age, and one of the best things I ever did was shaving my head. In my case, the ladies loved it, and I wish I would have shaved it all off years earlier.
