Slin resistent---> Diabetes
This might sound amature but, my PWO shake consists of 50g Whey/100g Dextrose. That should definintly spike my Insulin levels. I work out 4 days/week and only use my shake on those days. How long before insulin resistence become an issue/concern? Would it be a good idea to change my shake to 50g Whey/25g Dextrose back and fourth, month to month? Thanks!

It takes a while to become insulin resistant... A while meaning several years of high carb intake.
YOu should try to get an Insulin test done (not blood sugar) to determine the amount ot insulin which is relesead after a certain amount of carbs are ingested. I'll look up the exact procedure for you later this day.

You will not become insulin resistant because of one shake a day on workout days, especially if your muscles are hungry for glycogen replenishment and as a result, insulin sensitivity is high... A can of regular soda has roughly 40g of sugar and I know people who down 2-3 cans a day without any problems (I mean, they are healthy and exercise regularly).
Unless you have diabetes in your family, I wouldnt worry.
Also, 100g dex is very high IMHO, cut it down to 60 and sdjust from there! Also, adding 10g of glutamine to your PWO also works synergistically with dextrose by making you more insulin sensitive
cheers

Genetic prediposition is the precursor.. while external lifestyle habits generally regulate the time frame with which the predisposition changes from a probability to an actuality.
Honestly.. check your family history.. if there's a high incidence of diabetes/insulin resistance, then you should monitor your BG/rBG regularly.. and THIS will be a major determinant in your choice to manipulate your diet as a preventitive measure.

Awsome replies! thanks guys. I guess i forgot to mention that my grandma on my dad's side had Diabetes (Type 1), and my sister has it also (Type 2). I feel a LOT safer and better about spiking insulin now. thanks again
