Actually, that alleged scientific report was quite revealing (and their conclusion would not stand up to any unbiased examination by an educated person who isn't bought and paid for by their organization)... Its jammed with medical mumbo-jumbo and double-speak. My read on it was that it seems that they stretched assumptions considerably to form a conclusion based on their goal, which was to report that HGH damages the body and shouldn't be used outside the medical establishment. And by the way, they hold the key to "appropriate use... which puts significant funds into their member pockets.
This very special piece of self serving dribble was produced by: The British Association of Sport and Exercise Education - Representing SEM Professional in the UK. They proudly proclaim to be: "The new hub of evidence based medicine." They are taking a page straight out of the American's Bush - Cheney playbook and appear to lie with impunity to achieve their goal.
They state: "As a member of BASEM you will be allocated a BASEM membership number, a BASEM Region, a BASEM Regional contact, and details of the BASEM Education Programme and Annual Congress for the next twelve months. You will receive the esteemed, peer reviewed journal, The British Journal of Sports Medicine, on a bi monthly basis. Furthermore, all you will be joining an organisation of like-minded colleagues and a network of professional support. Whether Sport and Exercise Medicine is an interest, a sub speciality, or your profession, you should consider joining BASEM".
Sheesh. I didn't think they lied like that in Europe. I guess America isn't the only place where the professionals, politicians, and other hucksters ride herd over the unwashed majority.
Sorry for the tirade. In my view that study is unmitigated horse crap....Last edited by JimInAK; 02-09-2009 at 05:19 AM. Reason: clear up verbage

IMO - They lie by quoting studies that use groups too small to obtain a statistically accurate picture and by jumping to conclusions. For example, the American establishment does the same thing by giving random anonymous emergency room surveys to people who are injured and ask questions such as: Have you smoked marijuana within the last 30 days.
If you answer yes, then your injury is associate to your use and addiction to marijuana.
The study appears to be Junk Science, right out of the Reefer Madness handbook.
