    HGH 1iu a day?

My roomate is on HGH (doctor prescribed).

He is taking 1iu a day.. Is this even worth the money he's paying?? I told him 1iu isn't allot and he should be more around the 5iu range.

My fathers HRT doc wanted to put him on 1iu/day. He said 1iu would be all he would need to get back to a normal range.

My father started running 4iu's and definately felt a difference..... went back to the doc and his IGF levels rose by 400 points within a week LMAO. The doc asked him how much he's taking and then told him he'd get growth gut from 4iu's/day

IMO.... the 1iu/day protocol isn't going to be worth the money he'd be paying to get it legally. I'd go black market and run 4iu's.....

"Normal" range varies widely (check out the table below) If I'm going to spend the money I'd rather be on the top of the "normal" chart rather than on the bottom.

Age Male ng/ml Female ng/ml GH Secretion
    2 to 5 yrs. 17 - 248 17 - 248 ?
    6 to 8 yrs. 88 - 474 88 - 474 ?
    9 to 11 yrs. 110 - 565 117 - 771 ?
    12 to 15 yrs. 202 - 957 261 - 1096 2000 mcgs.
    16 to 24 yrs. 182 - *** 182 - *** 500 mcgs.
    25 to 39 yrs. 114 - 492 114 - 492 250 mcgs.
    40 to 54 yrs. 90 - 360 90 - 360 125 mcgs.
    55 + yrs. 71 - 290 71 - 290 60 mcgs
    80 yrs. 1 - 71 1 - 71 30 mcgs

In my opinion, the "normal" range for a person over 40 is too low for optimal health.

This is not advice approved by the AMA, however... LOL.

    Here's what he's prescribed..

1iu a day of HGH (omnitrope)
Test gel 2x a day (it's not androgel though it's something else) I think it equates to 250mg a week
HCG (not sure of the dosage, *believe* it's around 500iu a week but I'd have to double check)

He's slightly over weight (not much though) (6'3 255lbs).. I'd put him at 18-20% BF.. He has lost a considerable amount of weight (used to be 275ish..)

He's trying to gain muscle AND lose weight @ the same time. I told him to stop trying to fight two battles, focus on normal training and an excellent diet. Once he gets to his ideal weight he can focus on lifting harder and focus on muscle.

Having started a new job his pay is not what it used to, and he's paying out of pocket for the HGH monthly. The rest is covered under insurance.

Do you think he should save the money and get off the HGH? I really don't think the 1IU a day is doing anything for him.

However he does say he has a lot more energy..

I'm going to print this up and show him, he's my best friend and I'd hate to see him dump a few hundred bucks a month down the drain if it's not even worth it.
