    T3/T4 + HGH question

I was curious about something that someone can hopefully clarify. I am aware of the dangers posed to ones thyroid by excessive doses or duration of thyroid hormones. In cycles past, I had used T3 but in limited doses for 4-6 weeks max. Ive seen many posts that advise to use thyroid hormones (I recently learned T4 is better than T3 for hgh maximization) in conjunction with hgh for the entire duration of the hgh cycle. Since this would be several months, does one risk permenantly damaging and alterating the body's thyroid function? Or is the damage negated since your body actually needs the extra T3/T4? Ive always read to limit intake of this drug to six weeks max. Thanks in advance to everyone.

It is always good to be cautious going ahead using any compound.

I also know out of experience that long term usage of t-3 is not that damaging as some make it out to be.

In this regard t-4 is even milder on the body and many reccomend it using it along GH for months without stopping.

I concur with bjpennnn and GH consumer. While I was doing my research on T4 I read a study where patients were on T4 for over 2 years. As soon as they came off their thyroids just kicked right in.

Has anyone been able to reliably buy T4 on-line without a prescription? I'm looking to add it to my HGH routine and am having a heck of a time finding a place on-line that doesn't require a prescription and will ship to the US. Any help is appreciated

I wasn't asking for a direct link, only if people have been able to successfully buy and import it to the US from an on-line site. The half a dozen sites I found and inquired with either wanted a MD's perscription or advised me against trying to ship it into the US from over seas. Sorry for the confusion. I'll be more specific next time.

So you take the whole 100mcg at once at night? I only ask bc I had previously thought it was better to split dose throughout day (didnt know if this dosing schedule was related to hgh supplmentation). Thanks in advance and for your previous input bipennnn

If using t-4 then once a day is enough as the half-life of t-4 is around 2-2,5 days, so no need for multiple dosings in one day.

I take t-4 together with GH early in the am.

I have not yet seen any conclusive evidence that supports any time of day, i.e. your choice

here is some info as to when to take thyroid medication.....and I have read this in numerous articles books
    ----------------------
Every thyroid patient has heard the advice that for best results, we should take our medication first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, and wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before eating. (And also, that we should wait at least three to four hours before taking calcium or iron, which can interfere with thyroid hormone absorption.)
But two important studies -- a 2007 study published in the journal Clinical Endocrinology, and a follow-up larger randomized trial reported in the December 2010 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine -- have found that taking the same dose of levothyroxine (i.e., Synthroid ) at bedtime, as compared to first thing in the morning, may be better.

The studies were prompted by observation that some patients had improved thyroid hormone profiles improved after they switched from taking their levothyroxine in the morning, to bedtime.

In 2007, Clinical Endocrinology reported on a small pilot study, which looked at the impact on thyroid hormone profiles by changing the time levothyroxine was taken from early morning to bedtime. They also evaluated the impact of this change on the circadian rhythm of TSH and thyroid hormones and thyroid hormone metabolism. The study, while small (12 subjects), was fairly conclusive in its findings, which the researchers said were “striking” and which have “important consequences for the millions of patients who take l-thyroxine daily.”

Researchers reported that taking medication at bedtime, rather than the morning, results in “higher thyroid hormone concentrations and lower TSH concentrations.” TSH decreased and Free T4 levels rose in all patients by changing thyroxine ingestion from early morning to bedtime and T3 levels rose in all but one subject. And TSH decreased irrespective of the starting TSH levels, suggesting better absorption of the thyroid medication when taken in the evening. Interestingly, the researchers found that the circadian TSH rhythm -- the typical daily fluctuations of TSH that occur during a 24-hour period -- dids not vary.

The researchers suggested several explanations for the results:

Even when waiting at least 30 minutes to eat, breakfast may be interfering with the intestinal absorption of levothyroxine thyroxine.
“Bowel motility is slower at night,” which means that it takes longer for the levothyroxine tablet to transit through the intestinal system, resulting in longer exposure to the intestinal wall, and therefore, better uptake of the medication.
The conversion process of T4 to T3 may be more effective in the evening.

    Good article.

What I am bumping at is the word 'may' in each of the conclusions.

They also mention the wait time of 30 min before food and absorption. What about 60 min before food and cardio inbetween?

We need more opinions in whether there is a significant difference in timing of t-4.
