    opened insulin vial life span

Box says to discard after 28 days once opened. Seems ridiculous.

i know but it's true. i was wondering why all of a sudden i wasn't starving anymore when i injected, but then i realized the 30 day mark had passed. i was chugging my shake and then an hour later i couldn't eat fast enough i was so hungry, but then it all stopped a bit after that thirty day mark.

I think that 28 day mark is the pharma company being over protective. I've read slin should stay good for quite awhile...if your slin turns cloudy (doesn't apply to you patrick) then you should discard. I've had an open vial of slin going on 6 weeks now (humalog) and it's still as potent as day 1.

i agree, the 28 day thing started about 10 years ago. There never was a time limit before

I stopped 2 months ago and started back on again Monday. I'm using the same vial and everything seems the same to me as it was 2 months ago.

In regards to insulin pen. Iv had a pen used for 2yrs came back and finished it last month was still fine and full swing, past expires date aswel. It was kept in fridge the whole time but when I use, I take it out of the fridge all the time for hours and put back in, still fine. Nova rapid slin pens.
