    Atilla's TB-500 Log

Atilla is my 9 year old boxer. She still has a lot of life (& puppy) left in her, but about a year ago she started hobbling around more & more. I have her on a pretty extensive (& expensive) home made joint complex powder that seems to have stabilized the situation, but I would love to see her be able to get up from her slumbers quicker & maybe be able to run around & play in the yard a little more too without having to pay for it later in the day. I would spare no expense to make her more comfortable so after reading Romans log & some of the other testimonials from some others who also chimed in, I've gone on & ordered 14 mg's. Will be no placebo effect here, she'll either start getting around easier or she won't. The only thing that I see possibly skewing the results is the warming weather.

    Wk1 - 6mg
    Wk2 - 2mg
    Wk3 - 2mg
    Wk4 - 2mg
    Wk5 - 2mg

OK. we're experimenting on dogs now? Dog physiology is not the same as human physiology

honestly mate, I'm thinking MSM might be a better solution. It's given to older horses and retired race horses out to pasture/stud. after about a month, they are seen frollicking in the fields when before they were rather sedintary.

She gets 3 grams / day of MSM, as well as several other joint supplements. It has at least stopped her condition from getting any worse, & probably made a slight improvement.

You think the TB-500 is a bad idea? Just trying to help the old girl out a little.

OK. Yer one step ahead of me....

....goood! You got her on the MSM.

two thoughts on the TB for your dog:

    1) TB is for healing. Is your dog injured?
    2) I have no idea what this peptide will do to your dog. Hopefully nothing negative. Now that I think of it, I'm thinking I read somewhere they are giving TB to racehorses too. So maybe it will be OK?

Always open for suggestions, but she gets the same homebrew formula that I consume myself, which has the optimal amounts of MSM, glucosamine, chondroitin, HA, collagen, micro lactin, cissus, boswellin & curcumin. She also gets fish oil & either oats & grass fed beef or oats & fresh farm eggs mixed in with her food daily. I've tried hitting this from every nutritional standpoint I can see.

Injuries... that's a good question. Her two problem area's are her left rear leg & her left front leg. Rear leg, the vet is pretty certain that she has a partially torn ligament in her knee, so that would qualify as an injury. Front left leg... just not sure. Maybe in the shoulder, maybe in the elbow, maybe in her wrist. That's the thing about trying to diagnose pain in an animal, they can't talk . So that one could be anything from a tendon, ligament, or maybe just arthritis???

Well, it's a crap shoot, but i'd put my money on it won't hurt the dog.

give it a shot and let us know if it helps.

remember to allow 6 to 8 weeks before making a determination

Well, made the 1st injection today. I changed the dosing protocol around a little, just easier to measure out b/c it comes in 2mg containers.

    Changed from:

    Wk1 - 5mg
    Wk2 - 2.5mg
    Wk3 - 2.5mg
    Wk4 - 2mg
    Wk5 - 2mg

    to:

    Wk1 - 6mg
    Wk2 - 2mg
    Wk3 - 2mg
    Wk4 - 2mg
    Wk5 - 2mg

Still averages out to 14 mg's over 5 weeks. I'm gonna have to order more anyway, so if anyone thinks I should go ahead & up the dosage for the next 2 weeks, it won't be a problem.

Question: We're talking about a 70 lb dog here, do you think she would need the same amount as a 200 lb man?

I think TB-500 might have been developed for race horses. Not sure. I do know they use it them so I don't think it will hurt to use it on a dog. Worst case (probably) is nothing will happen. On the other hand things might improve dramatically. I would be very interested to know how it goes since the placebo effect won't be in play.
