    Tricep Tendonitis...

I read the sticky about tendonitis and I am still at a loss as to what to do. I have pain just above my elbow on my left arm. It all started with french presses gone bad about a year ago... The pain was subsiding, but it came back full force (even worse) when I was bench pressing about 2 months ago. I have now adjusted my training to work around the problem; no more bench (dumbbells only - as they seem to cause much less irritation), no more seated triceps extentions (light pressdowns and over head rope extensions only as they seem to irritate less). I am still able to get pumped...but I am afraid to lift heavy for fear of making the injury worse. I bought and use an elbow tensor for chest and tricep training and it helps a lot...what else can I do?

    Thanks,

    BigJ

I've got something very similar to this, yet to a lesser extent I'm guessing, and it all stemmed from french presses as well. With most days, I just do a light warm up and go right into working sets. With tris, I do a SERIOUS warm up, stretch like a mad man, and do pushdowns before french presses. With my elbows, as long as I've warmed them up properly and given them time to stretch, I've been able to subside the pain

I re-read the stickies and noticed that I had skipped a section, probably due to the fact that my reading was interupted the first time. I will try some Advil and or MSM and regular RICE treatment...

    Thanks guys...

I have been applying ice and NSAIDs since the beginning of March. I also am using an elbow tensor for chest and tricep training and avoiding any painful movements / excersizes. I do not appear to be getting better. I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago looking for a cortizone shot and he wants me to try physio first. Anyone have any thoughts on how to pick a good physio. I want to try to find someone that understands that I am training and want to keep training. If the advise is to take time off I will have to wait until AFTER my current cycle ends in May.
