    Question Shoulder...damn!

    Hi guys,

I have been struggling with shoulder problem for over 5 years now. It all started when I was doing bench-presses and gradually increased to the point where I was not able to do any training at all. I then gave it a 6 month break, and had some cortisone tabs. I never benched again and kept to dumbbells (shoulder- and bench presses)...this seemed to have helped even though I lost quite a bit of strength in my one shoulder.

The problem is that I have now increased workout intensity quite a bit and as a result I cannot do much of a shoulder workout. Side lat raises causes my shoulder to go almost numb with pain, I have around 50% power in that shoulder and as a result the left shoulder is now showing signs of underdevelopment when I compare the two.I can now do bench-presses again but the left shoulder always gives in before I am even tired. I have seen a specialist, had x-rays and MRI scans done and all I got told was that I have got tendonitis just above the rotator-cuff area. I was given COX inhibitors but they did absolutely nothing! I cannot even begin to tell you how much grief this is causing me; it is really hampering my future plans!

The specialist I saw was in Brazil, so I now need to go find a new one here in the UK...am just not sure if this will be a waste of money. My question is...what causes chronic tendonitis (and with that fatigue and numbness), could it possibly be something else and is there a way to correct this, say, via keyhole surgery?

have you tried to rehab the rotator cuff muscles? read the sticky on shoulder rehab. if that doest work, see an ortho surgeon
