    Tricep tendon issuses

I am 27 and weigh 210lb. with several cycles under my belt. I am having major problems with my tricep tendon. I was training hard for mma and noticed some tendonitis but I ignored it and went to the gym to lift the next day. When I went to bench medium range of weight, which I usualy get about 10 reps in but I was only able to get 5. The whole 5 reps were extremely painful. Havent been able to lift anything since then and its been about 10 weeks. I was trying to lift off and on but the pain is a big factor. What kind of rehab can i do and for how long should I do it? When will I know when my tendon has healed enough to start lifting again?

Thank you guys for any input

I would go to the doctor and see if it's torn. It takes forever for a tendon tear to heal! Click on the link provided to see my bicep tendon surgery. Take it easy so you don't have to go that route!

Is it on the elbow? And is it on the inside or outside of it?

It is on the elbow and on the inside. After I have stopped for a while and gave it rest... 10 days now, it feels funny. No pain, just not right. I don’t have insurance at this time. So not looking for a large medical bill.

I've got the same thing on the inside of my elbow. Hurts pretty bad when I do preacher curls. My doc said it was a strained tendon I took 500mg of Ibuprofen but ultimately I'm gonna have to get a cortisone shot.

It's not cheap. This guy at the gym got 3 shots and each one was around a couple hundred bucks.

Thank you Chitown Raider for your input.

Not too bad... What kind of doc would I go see? How should I ask? I don’t want to go through the medical process that just drains me of funds. I want a doc that is going to get the job done.

What you can do is call your doctor or schedule an appt. and your doctor can refer you to a specialist.

Well, I went to a sports medicine specialist and he said that I had a partially torn tricep tendon. The xrays he took showed mild degeneration but he said that it was normal for my age. At this time I am to start a rehab program for the next 28 days. If I get good results then no need for a MRI, which is nice but I'm still kinda disapointed because I was hoping to do Desert Quest. Thank you everbody for the help and I'll let you know if it works out

Hello Everyone..... Well no luck with my elbow. Doc sent me to get MRI. The results came back with a old fracture on the ulna. He "thinks" the fracture is the problem and might be causing ulnar nerve to be aggravated. So long story short he gave me a cortisone shot. It’s been a week now with no change.

Does anyone here have any advice on what I can do?

i wish i did. you are doing everything you can to get yourself back to normal. the only thing you can do is let time heal. i know it is shitty advice, but i have had to do this with my shoulder when i hurt it. took about 1 year to heal.

same shit for me, the joint between my elbow and tricep hurt like a bitch. I was doing skull crushers, wasn't even going to heavy like 135 lbs. At rep #5, I heard a tear and I was the end. I find it hard to do dips, skull crushers or tricep pulldowns. I know a pro bodybuilder at my gym, he's been fighting his injury for 10 years. He is 39 now and said the injury is unrecoverable.
