forearm
straight bar curls are the worst, i think i might have to start training my forearms to manage the heavy weight for biceps, my forearm hurts more than the burn from the biceps.

Yeah I had the same problem with the straight bar. Forearm would hurt like crazy on about every curl. I went to using the EZ bar instead of the straight one and it seemed to help.

forearm stints. Had them last year. I describe them as not really hurting when you are lifting the weight, but as soon as you get to the top of the rep ans you can take some pressure off you forearms they kill. Like your tailbone after you sit on the hard floor or ground for awhile. It hurts when you take the pressure off.

i have had this problem... It kept me out of the gym for 6-8 weeks.. The straight bar is killer.. I switched to the ez bar..... The straight bar puts alot of strain on your forearm... I could not even lift anything... I still get some issues here and there.. I usually go to a massage therapist to get mine worked on still.. I use ice, etc.. I would suggest stay away from the straight bar on curls... Since you have these pain already it will not get any better... also use dumbells,etc... good luck...

reverse curls and hammer curls can get that going as well. try massaging the muscle and icing it as well. perform stretch and resist excersises on your wrist/forearm - give it time - i know it's hard but lay off for a couple weeks and start with squeezing a stress ball - should help

ouch im sure 99percent of guys who train hard know what your talking about. In fact those of us going heavy on straight barbell curl know this the best, i tried working out through it. Theres no working through it, you need to lay off completely. Ice worked well as did globs of tigers balm and i tried wrist straps but in the end they still killed. Also make sure your form is in check not breaking your wrists going up or down. IMO bb are great but doing them too frequently can be very painful. I wish you luck.

I have had this exact pain before when I first started lifting. It was when doing bicep curls and especially when I would release the bar I would feel a sharp burn that would dissipate shortly after, none the less, hurt more and more until I was in pain all the time.
The pain is being caused by the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle in the forearm. This is the muscle that runs along the ulnar bone of the forearm. The ulnar is the bone that is medial if in anatomical position. (if palms are facing out, pinky side.) The action of this muscle is to cause wrist flexion. I think the actual pain is being caused because of inflammation of the tendons of this muscle. The main reason is over use. In my case it was because while doing bicep curls I was allowing my wrist to sag, or keeping my wrist in a neutral position. The recommended solution was to keep the wrist tightly flexed (keep wrists up and towards you) while doing bicep curls as to not let them sag.
What I did was I let the inflammation subside until I couldn't feel it anymore if I wasn't lifting. Then I tried the above method and it worked great.

Man, Ditto to above- I had to switch to EZ bar also, I still get that damn pain though not as bad now...Dumbell curls hurt the least later for me.
If you find a miracle cure please let me know!
Good luck

Haha yeah bro, i have had the same pain and it just started in my right arm this week since i tossed heavy staright bar curls into my workout a week ago. It kills now, but it doesnt effect any other exercise besides curls so I'm just going to use dumbells for the next few weeks for biceps. We feel your pain
