Unhappy Shoulder Injury - so gutted :(

    Hey all

Going to write down all this in case it helps anyone with similar shoulder issues.

Approx 2 months ago on chest training day. Decided to start on incline dumbell press. Done the normal warmup with 7.5kg / 12kg /15 kg

Done my normal chest stretching. went onto first set 25kg (normally get really high reps on this one to make sure its all warmed up) first rep and snap. Left shoulder I heard a little snap or "ping sound" right in the join area of my chest and shoulder. I stopped training immediately, went home packed with ice

The pain got worse through out the day all around my trap/and entire shoulder, even top of my arm and tricep area! Couldnt sleep a wink. (in fact couldnt sleep for 2 weeks)

booked in to see my physio next day. Now on injurys this guy always helps. He done some ultrasound, manipulation etc and said couple of treatments/ couple of weeks no prob!

Now its 2 months later, 12 sessions plus 6 deep tissue massages on the trap area and around the back of the shoulder. He Rightfully advised me I need a scan. Went to drs today and showed him various movements that hurt like hell (side raises, front raises, and went I in turn my hand to make a bicep pose. ... BANG - the pain. Its wierd I could do hammer curls but soon as I turn the hand palm upwards it hurts.

The side and lateral movements only hurt in "spots" soon as I am by them its ok.

Dr has today refered me for a soft tissue scan to see what damage there is. He said could be rotator tear, or even tendon or cartilage (they really dont like to tell you exactly what they think)

I have not trained chest / shoulders at all in this time. been doing light hammer curls, triceps seem ok on certain exercises and pulling motions for back seems fine unless its above head. So t-bar row a favourite! Able to train legs of course and do cardio and abs.

My referal should not take long to come through but Im fearing the worst. I kinda know my body at 37 and had lots of injurys before but i always can tell if its a 2 day injury or a 2 week.... its like "ahh shit i just pulled my back, cant train till thursday"

But this injury feel horrible, shooting pain, constant pain, throbbing etc. Even reaching for the dam gearstick in the car sometimes hurts. I cant really see an end to it and feel totally gutted as for the first time in my life I had a diet that was working, a training programme that was working and I was getting in good shape.

totally pissed offf and fed up today and just wanted to let you guys know

Will let you know the diagnosis soon as I get it so it may help you guys with bad shoulders

HOPEFULLY it is not a torn tendon. They will have to re attach that, no way around it.

I dont remember hearing a pop or anything except mine pops/snaps all the time doing overhead tricep

I hurt mine doing flat dumbell bench over a year ago using 100 lb dumbells before I should have. Hurt like hell for a long time and my incline bench went down 50%

I got cortisone shots in the front and back of my shoulder. Help minimally. Ice helps some but do it daily 3-4x a day 20 min on, 20 min off.

Doctor did MRI and wants to do ortho surgery to clean up some tears on the rotator cuff and clean out the scar tissue and arthritis.

I said NO, Ill live with it for now. Do these, they have helped me get back to 90%+ if I did them regularly I would probably be 100%
