    motivation after slap tear surgery

I am post OP 5 months and am having a very difficult time finding the motivation to hit the gym again. I never really lifted to get big but more to stay fit. I dont know if its the fear of tearing it again or what but I am finding myself avoiding the gym whenever possible and that is not like me at all! Just looking for some advice to help get me motivaed again. i am cleared to go back in but only using lighter weights for another 3 months. Any thoughts???

Yeah get back in there in take it easy for awhile though. Light weight high rep exercises. I had my labrum done about 1 year ago or so. Still to this day, every time I go heavy I get scared i might tear my labrum again.

I put off lifting for so long because I wanted to make EXTRA sure I didn't re-injure my shoulder again. It took me a long time to get over that...Just play it safe and know your limits and you should be good..

Keep doing your physical therapy exercises even if you're not going anymore...You can start lifting where you are now but again it should be light. The wait time until you can go as heavy as you want is about 8-9 months so you aren't too far off. Start gearin up for it

Thank you for the reply! I am still doing the PT exercises and will continue doing them. Ive lost allot of what i had initialy gained before the tear happened. The wait for surgery i couldnt lift (doctors orders) and the post op recovery have left me feeling a little on the "squishy" side! I need to get the first week out of the way and i think that i will feel a little better about going! I believe it is kind of a head game at this point! Well i will drive one and see what i can muster up! even if it is just core and legs! Thx for the comment any helpful word goes a long way!
