    Quad Spasm

Anyone else ever get quad spasms while lifting? This is the second or third time for me. It's happened with either heavy squats or leg presses and it feels like you've torn the muscle when it occurs. Kind of like you've been knuckle-punched very hard in the quad. I'm then residually sore for a few days then naturally gun shy with heavier weights for a little bit.

So, just curious is anyone else has experienced this?

    Yes
    Same symptoms and worries
suggest the rice thing of course
But then also deep massage via mass therapist or PT or friend etc ....in that quad.... Could b the start of something you don't want to see
PT could add ultrasound to that area to help heal

    Stretch more

Try a few sessions adding one legged stuff to make sure you're not building a natural one sided imbalance that is overworking the "spasm" leg, or in the case of slowly failing leg...you may find the "spasm" leg is becoming the weaker side.

Interesting jseek. Horrible feeling when it happens isn't it? I've been considering deep tissue manipulation which I'll probably jump on and stretching is something I never do. I'll give it a go. It's always my vastus lateralis as well.
