Need help feeling hopeless
I had a lateral release done on my left knee after having a shooting pain in my patellar tendon (right below my knee cap) anytime I bent down, squatted, lunged, and jumping was out of the question. It happened from doing heavy squats (around 400lbs "heavy for me") every week for years on end without a break. I suffered from this pain for almost a year and a half and tried physical therapy with no aid whatsoever, so I finally I opted for this surgery that my doc recommended after nothing on the MRI or xrays on July 11th 2014. Needless to say it has been almost 7 months post surgery, I've been in physical therapy for 3 months and I have yet to see any improvement, infact it probably is worse now that it was prior to the surgery. It blows my mind that I have suffered from this injury for this long. I haven't been able to train legs in probably 2+ years now, lost a ton of weight, and its starting to contribute to my depression. I'm now wondering if it will ever heal, I'm a very healthy 24 y/o male with no prior health issues. ANY advice on this shitty situation I'm I would really appreciate it, have I just f***** myself or is there still hope? thanks

The doc couldnt find anything wrong with it based off the MRI's and XRAY's. But because I had been suffering with it for so long and it wasnt seeming to heal on its own he said that alot of people benefit from having this surgery and that even if it didn't fix it would not make it any worse. He basically told me that this "lateral release" which I had never heard of gives the knee cap more room to move back and forth...his words not mine.

i agree with gsx... fine a couple of other dr's, ideally that understand athletes and lifting. also, another pt would also be a good idea.

Are you referring to SportsMED? I talked to a Doc over there the other day and I am thinking about checking it out.
