    Possible bicep tendon tear

    in the uk,

deadlifting heavy two weeks ago all seemed fine, morning after massive bruise in elbow. Discomfort that has been getting worse and worse. basically can't load the bicep without pain. Also nerve related - numbness in fingers and shoulder is hurting.

GP has sent me on my way, saying not enough loss of strength or pain to indicate anything. I think its a partial tear. worried. What shall I do? Spoke to an experienced physio via email and he said that it might well be a tear, need to get it checked asap.

But national health care really don't want to spend any money on me

Damn. You need an MRI to make a determination in many cases. That said, an experiences sports doctor can manipulate your arm under slight hand resistance and tell you if there's a tear or not.

I would not put any stress on the area until you figure this out. I had a partial distal bicep tear last June. Felt like something bit me when it occurred and I instantly knew what it was, even though I was in denial. It did not discolor though and surgery was not needed. Rested it for 6 weeks and came back just fine.
