My doctors don't understand gyno
I have mild, lump type pubescent gyno, which makes my nipples puffy and awful. The right side is obviously worse than the left when felt. I went to an endocrinologist a few months ago about my issues and was told I have hardly anything there and that I had a "completely normal amount of breast tissue". She also mentioned that the smaller side was worse than the larger side which baffled me. She gave me orders for an ultrasound and I convinced her to give me a tamoxifen prescription to attempt to reverse it.
The "breast specialist" doctor doing the ultrasound told me that the left side had a very small amount of gyno and the right had nothing based on a small dark spot he saw on the left side. I asked him what all the fatty tissue was and why my nipple was puffy and he claimed "it is a normal amount of breast tissue and will probably go away in a few months". (I've had this since I was 14)
Am I misunderstanding what gyno is or are these doctors idiots? Based on my understand, if it looks like gyno and feels like gyno it's gyno. What else would it be.

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I've had mine since I was 14 as well, however strangely enough, mine was off and on for about 7 years until it "stuck" with me, but only on my left nipple. I've explained this to Dr.'s and they seem to believe that I've been on the "juice"; which is not true considering I've never taken anything other than your basics: Multis, fish oils, CLA, Glucosamine, Calcium, Vit D, and then your proteins, creatines, and pre-workouts.
I was a fat kid growing up, so I suspect it was due to that and rapidly losing weight in my teens (hormonal imbalance?). Mine, as far as I know, is irreversible by meds and surgery is the only option (based off of what I've read and what others with similar issues told me-- due to having it for so long). I know what surgery isn't covered by insurance UNLESS the doctors can code it as a medical need. However, I have found a Dr that I can stand without them falsely accusing me. Which for the record, wouldn't bother me IF i was using.
It's sucked for me, psychologically. I won't take my shirt off around the public, I've stopped doing shows bc I can see it in the pictures, and it makes me feel like a pudge even though I know I'm not.
You said you've had it since you were 14, have you experienced the whole off and on thing I mentioned? It seemed like for me that it would show up for a few months to a year, and then one day disappear for about the same length!
Anyone got any opinions/suggestions for us?

They never fully disappeared but they did substantially shrink for a few months at a time when I was younger.
Read this if you haven't yet. I'm on tamoxifen right now but it will be a while before I can decide if it's working or not. Stop Using Aromatase Inhibitors to Reverse gynecomastia! SERM's Only!

How long did you have gyno? What was your dosage?
These studies show that it has worked on pubescent gyno as well as gyno in ~30YO men. I'm not sure how long they had it for though.

I will be sure to report back. I've been on it for just under a month.

Gyno involves a lump/gland directly beneath the areola. You may just have puffy nipples. Can't tell without squeezing them (no, I don't make house calls).
Also, you're nowhere near 8-9% BF based on what I can see.
