    I hear you.
    I like my home gym

    Solo training is the killer
The hardest bit is not being able to go for that extra rep/reps without a spot.
TP = intensity... but we do what we can.

I had to go to the smith machine because no spotter .I find at 57 it is more important to not worry about how much weight I can lift I only rep with 235 x 8 on the smith any more. But to make sure I don't get hurt it takes to long to recover anymore. It is nice to never have stand in line for your turn.

Nice stuff jim. I have a nice set up at home myself. Haven't worked out in a commercial gym in 10 yrs or more. Don't know if I'd fit in anymore or have the patience for it.

Kelkel or anyone else how do you keep up the intensity when you are always working out alone. I find that every once in awhile i need an extra day off and don't beat myself up about it. It is what it is and i will do it again tomrrow.

I lift at home as well. Bought a power rack, it allows me to lift to failure. Bench, for instance: the spotter arms are higher then my neck but lower then my chest. In event of failure, i just roll the bar towards my head and the weight is off. I've made much more progress since buying one

You need an extra day off at times no matter where you lift. Keeping your rest periods short, supersets, dropsets, rest pauses, etc. will help the intensity up.

Simply self-motivated. I train EOD so I'm always rested for the next assault.

Agreed. I read so many posts of people complaining about others wanting to chat, screwing around on their phones while sitting on the very piece of equipment you're clearly waiting for...LOL

Smith, Leg Press, DB's, tread(mill and climber). Only thing I am lacking (IMO) is a cable cross. Pretty happy with my setup. Oh, lest I forget... Bangin' sound system

That's a seated ext/curl machine in front. Vertical leg press on left and old fashioned T bar rows with olympic bar in corner when it's not on the squat rack.

Since we're posting up our places of solitude. My stuff is old and ratty like me, but functional.
Much like Kel, if I have my music, and occasionally the cat or my male mastiff with me, I'm generally content.

I thought it was another toolbox but when I put the thing together, I got that unwanted device. I think it runs off of calories or something?
I need to drape a sheet over it or something.

    I train at home

-Got my own music as loud as i want
-Can train naked and admire myself if i wish
-No waiting for particular dumbells etc
-Always trained alone so dont care about training partners, if i did need a spotter my wifes always there

Jealous of your gyms guys, i dont have the space for that level yet.

I only have a bench, pull down attachment, dumbells and 130kg in steel plates but it does the job, i dont believe in machines anyway.

I do visit a gym every couple of weeks to blast the cable machine though, which i find myself having to wait to use, then when i get on it the annoyance of people asking if i have many sets left on it to which i reply "yea fuk1ng loads so get lost"

Shit, Tax you've got the essentials. It's all.about how.you work the muscle not necessarily what you work it with in most cases anyway. I've just found odds and ends at a price I was willing to pay over the years.

That actually looks pretty useful. I'll have to keep an eye out for the "fat boy" model.

I really like the looks and specs on the Legend stuff, but it is pricey and I don't part w/ my $$ easily. In general, I like the way their machines are constructed.

    http://www.legendfitness.com/product/standing-leg-curl/

I was seriously considering spending some $$ with them when I was shopping for my seated ext./curl setup.

I edited my original post, Kel. It seems they have changed their site around a tad and the link I originally posted was dead so I posted the current link. I'm still skimming CL for weight equipment. Never can tell when someone may list something for a decent price.

You guys have some serious setups.

I don't have the space for equipment and commercial gyms in my area are so crowded....next month thru March are painful

actually considering buying a second membership to powerhouse gym where only the more serious BB lift as a Christmas present to myself.

I totally agree with you. I have a laid out home gym and sometimes I cant get motivated so I drive to the gym. I do use them both though on a regular basis.
I did BICEPS/TRICEPS today at home and had one of the best workouts ever.

  33. #33
I workout at home as well. If I get stuck on a bench, which isnt too often,I slide her right off.
Working out at home is 100 times better than dealing with the bufoons at the gym taking up equipment chit chatting away.
Only good thing about commercial are the machines for iso exercises, and the eye candy. But I'm married, wouldn't want to mess anything up now would I?

Iv just moved house and slowly building my home gym up, i prefer the solitude i get disracted easily. found a bargain in the local rag on a multi station, i like the feel of free weights but funds are tight and their damn expensive the fitness boom in aus has brought prices on gym equipment up but you do find some good deals.

Yeah, that's the truth. I have a huge setup in my barn from over the years, but there's nothing like the energy you get when everyone around you is lifting. OP: Nice setup though. For a time saver, it gets the job done. I don't always have time to run to the gym

it would be nice just to have a home gym for the times the gym isn't open. I would have to have a few hammer strength machines
