this is not good for a pitcher cause it screws with ur control and release points. what you should do is work on getting some movement on ur fastball and try to perfect a second pitch. remember any decent ball player can hit a 100 mph straight fastball but a 94mph ball with movement then followed up by a change up. much more difficult!

    very true.
same thing goes for gaining too much muscle in a short period of time. the same way people pull things after getting big, nothing will feel the same after a cycle. even if you pitch every day or so, i doubt you could throw as well after cycling.

not to be too harsh, but mid 80s isn't gonna get you too far in baseball.. kids at my high school throw low 80s and aren't gonna play in college. 90 mph throwers are a dime a dozen, find another pitch or two to set you apart from everyone else.

and i was a catcher for 5 years at a fairly high level for my age.

i used to pitch in hs...ive had tommy john surgery as well...im a lefty that was throwing in the low to mid 90s my senior year....the only problem was that my ****ing coaches made me run all the time and do core training.....i never got to throw bullpens at practice....only with my pops on sundays and thats it......because of those ****ers ****ing with my head and not helping with proper rehab for my arm.....i ended up getting benched most of the season bc i could only go for 3 innings then my control was gone....because they ****ed with my head so bad i turned down a tryout for the braves that i somehow got and several colleges were looking at me as well.....sorry for the sob story..hahaha.....but get your legs and core stronger.....tweak your mechanics and use the elastic bands......throwing a football helps too...and dont forget long toss....im sure u already know all that but just a reminder.....things tend to be forgotten....i dont know everything but pitching used to be my thing obviously youve taken it to the next level which is awsome.....but i learned a lot while doing my rehab and the dumbest things will add some mph to the fastball.....pm me if you have any questions ide be more than happy to help....good luck

If he played long ball with a heavier ball, that can increase arm strength... dont pitch with it of course but long ball.... that helps alot

the readon i didnt mention long toss is cause we are all taught that in little league. that is the most basic and imo best thing to increase arm strength. me and my buddies used to get together and see who could make a field goal from the opposite field goal!
