    Sarah Palins Public Speech

    http://www.philly.com/dailynews/opin...l?text=xlg&c=y

As most of you know, Sarah Palin will make her first Public Speech since being selected by John McCain, tonight at 7pm Eastern Time.

    Will she either:

    a) Give Obama something to worry about
    b) Unintentionally bury McCain

I'm very interested to see what she has to say for herself, and if she'll bring up her staunch anti-abortion and creationism views among other things. Will she prove tonight she is more than just a pretty face? This will probably the most watched VP Speech in American history and i'll be tuning into it for sure.

I highly doubt she will bring up creationism or antiabortion.....two extremely controversial topics.

Ms. Palin beleives in creationism. Her 17 year old unwed daughter, on the other hand, beleives in the "big bang."

Ya, McCain voted for Obama when he picked Palin for his running mate.

Jiggaman, it's not that I personally think she is attractive, but it's how she's been painted as this attractive, all American "Mom".

Anyways, I stayed up and watched the speech last night. I have to admit she surprised me last night and managed to speak for 40 minutes, rather than the 10 that everyone thought. However, she was basing her ability on what she can do for the country on what she's done in Alaska, I dont think I need to tell anyone how great the gulf is between the two.

Romney had quite a bit to say, I still think maybe McCain shoulda chose this guy instead as VP.

By the way, has Giuliani always been that much of an over-bearing, hate spreading shithead?

And I wish the Republicans would STOP going on about him being a POW, christ we get it...he was captured, tortured...I mean is McCain supposed to be elected on the sympathy vote or what?

Here is what the Christian Bible has to say about these issues:

I wholeheartedly agree that Islam is needlessly brutal in its treatment of its "heretics." But so is Christianity.
Lucky for us that only the fanatical practitioners of these horrible religions insist on absolute compliance with their scriptures, eh?

I think I'm gonna keep a copy of the Deuteronomy verse in my wallet for the next time someone asks me to go to church with them -- I'll tell them that my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather was born out of wedlock, and my descendants have another 3 generations to go before they're cleared to go . . .

Can't we just acknowledge we have 2 retarded candidates in McCain and Obama?

I lean more towards McCain because I'll at least have more money at the end of the day.

Ron Paul was the only hope for America this time and look what happened.

it amazes how idiotic people are to still believe the bullshit spewed by hatemongers to try to ruin Obama. Nothing that you wrote was true. His parents were married, he's not a muslim, and he is an american citizen. Its absolutely absurd that someone with any level of intelligence still believes that bullshit you spewed!

He believes there are 57 states in the USA.

The last time I checked, he would NOT be smarter than a 5th grader.

The comment was obviously made tongue in cheek and his was actually referring to the number of campaign stops made prior to that comment. The last time I checked not too many 5th graders graduated from both Harvard and Columbia. As I recall, with the exception of Bill Clinton, Obama was probably the best student of any presidential candidate in recent memnory.

    Try again, brotha.

    Experience?

Alaska's total population is only 670,000.
    Dallas, Texas, is 1,200,000.

It's like Ms. Palin was governor of half of the city of Dallas. The Dallas Mayor has more administrative experience and responsibility than McCain's VP pick. And she's supposed to run the country in case McCain kicks the bucket?

Not the job for "just another pretty face," IMHO.

nope....its no joke.....direct quote from Rudy Giuliani during the rePUB convention. which by the way fox broadcasted I think several nights never broadcasting the democrats once. Talk about reporting the news.

Lot of rhetoric going around in this post...some of us need to quit listening to the media and do some research of our own before we come to any conclusions.

For me it a major issue is Obama's policy on gun control. They have to bring some guns of there own if they think I'm just going to lay mine down.

Second the guy seems to talk down to suburban/rural middle class Americans.

Third the guy every time you open the paper, turn the TV on, or check your email you see something new about the guy being linked to terrorists, racists, radicalists, misogynist, or whatever kind of 'ist' you can think of. And I'm sure they are not all true but where there's smoke there's fire...

Christ we've all got skeletons but this character has a cemetery of them...

Another sheep in the fold! Look who is 'linking' Obama to all these 'ists'. And also look at the thin links. If you believe all that bullshit rhetoric then you weren't considering voting for the man in the 1st place.

I've yet to hear him speak down to anyone. Please sight relevant examples. I believe the only one you can come up with is the "...guns and religion" comment. But again I'm sure all you heard was the sound bite and have yet to hear the entire comment or his subsequent explaination which was spot on. But again, you weren't looking for a reason TO vote for him anyway, the conservative arguments you latch on to just makes you and other's like you feel better about not voting for him. Let's keep it real!

I watched it, Giluliani is a fool that drones on and one, loves the sound of his own voice and promotes propaganda and hate. Didn't he say during the rePUB how belligerant Russia is? What the Hell has that got to do with anything? Politicians like that need to get off the Russia bandwagon right now.

I noticed the underlying message of, "more of the same." she said something about how obama (sp?) was more concernd about the terroists having there rights read to them. dick chenny had priviate contractors at abu ghrab prision and signed a paper saying whatever it takes. so she is basicly saying vote for us because we will do more of the same

here is what i can see

george bush senior was president, republican, left the white house with the country in a recession and with the gulf war aftermath

clinton, Democrat, 8 year term country has a surplus of money and things are relatively good

Bush jr comes to office..... i dont think i have to explain what the last 8 years have been like

    see the trend here?

4 more years of republican nonsense and we are all screwed.

i am not taking on conservatives, i am not siding with liberals. not going down the pro or anti abortion debates. not going to even think of touching religion or race!!! i think we all get too caught up in these things and identify a party FOR or AGAINST these things. this is NOT what matters, these issues are trivial. bottom line is who is going to run the country better, and that is it.

pick the best man for the job weather he is in your party or not. as we all know Biden is big on the anti steroid laws, now i thing we can all agree this is something most of us here dont like, but that is just one issue, i agree with more he has to say than against him. dont let one issue or personal bias sway your opinion. vote for the people who stand the best chance of getting this country back on its feet.

    Very, very well said Big.

It's a shame that so much mud-slinging has gone on, and it has created heated discussion, on all the topics you mention, like religion, sex, money, war, who hates this, who hates that, and it seems like a lot of people aren't voting FOR someone, but they are simply voting AGAINST the other side.

"I hate Obama, so im voting for McCain" or "Palin is a nut, so Obama gets my vote"

    And so on..

Doc Sust... This is how I see it

In 1914 President Woodraw Wilson, created the Federal Reserve and the Central Bank..

This was done, because Bankers in the United States, said the country will be better off, if Politicians did not have control of the economy.

So today we have These Bankers.. Bernake, Paulson, and other people that are NOT ELECTED... and they get passed down from President to President.

Greenspan was in charge for 10+ years at least maybe even 20. Bernanke is young, so he'll be in charge for another 20 years unless he gets caught up in a scandal.

The Presidents go to these Bankers and the Bankers brief them on what is going on.. The president has no power over their decisions. These bankers raise and lower rates, and they issue currency.

The funny thing about the Federal Reserve is that it is supposed to oversee the Banking industry.. Usually when you have agencies overseeing an Industry fore example USDA and MEAT.. the Meat companies hate and fear the USDA.. or Construction Companies Fear OSHA etc..

but in the case of the Federal Reserve, and Banking world, they love each other.

anyways back on track.. Point is Economy is out of the hands on the President.

The stupid system that is in place today.. that is Based on CREDIT was created when the U.S got off the GOLD STANDARD...

    It makes the economy CYCLICAL..

meaning it works in cycles.. BOOM PERIODS and RECESSION PERIOD.
Its meant to create bubbles, and the govt even ecourages most bubbles like it did to the housing bubble with Fannie and Freddie Mac.

    Ok... now back to point..

80s.. was a LOTS OF CREDIT BOOM.. Arms race with the soviets, Stock Market going up big, Housing prices exploding..

Early 90s.. was a LACK OF CREDIT PERIOD... we over extended ourselves, deals went bad... Federal Reserve had to lower rates, pump out more cash..

LATE 90s - INTERNET BOOM.. CREDIT BOOM PERIOD.. again lots of easy credit.. internet investments, housing prices go up etc..

EARLY 00s.. LACK OF CREDIT PERIOD.. Internet companies failed,, lots of bad deals.. 9/11 did not help etc.. Bush introduces tax cuts to stimulate economy. print more money..

2002 -2007 BOOM PERIOD. LOTS OF EASY CREDIT.. everyone is driving SUV's.. everyone is taking money out of their houses, cause values keep exploding etc..

2007 - PRESENT... no access to credit.. lots of Bad deals done... lower rates, give rebates, print more money, or waste tax payer money to bail out companies..

NEXT BOOM PERIOD.. they expect it starts in 2009.. but who know we'll see..

history shows at some point these types of Systems tend to collapse, and than people will probably switch back to a gold standard.

Early 90s.. was a LACK OF CREDIT PERIOD... we over extended ourselves, deals went bad...

NEXT BOOM PERIOD.. they expect it starts in 2009.. but who know we'll see..

history shows at some point these types of Systems tend to collapse, and than people will probably switch back to a gold standard.
damn that was a great post, very informative. besides economy, there havebeen a lot of bad choices made in the last 8 years by the current admin that certainly did not help our situation, i could type forever because there has been a lot of bad mistakes from environmental issues, to health care, to a war with a country who didnt have nuclear arms..... the list goes on and on

Like I've said before, to attempt to say a President caused a recession is simply lacking the basic knowledge of economics.

For example Bush took office on 1/2001. The date of the last recession in the US was 11/2001 - 11-2002. Based upon your logic Bush II inherited Clinton economic mess.

I will agree that the Bipartisan junior high politics are ruining the govt, economy, and country.

Looking back at what I wrote.. it seems the last 20 or so years.. BOOM periods last about 5 years.. followed by reccession of about year n half to 2 years.

But u have to position yourself to capitalize on these bubbles to get the most out of them.

dont get me wrong, i am not putting blame at all on one man, it took a lot of people and outside circumstances to create this. but to say that it has nothing to do with the current regime in power? i really cant agree. you dont think the war helped put us in the hole? how many billions lost?

Our country is filled with morons and we elect even dumber morons.

I can think of 100 people I know and have worked with that have MORE leadership experience, better morals, superior intelligence, and eloquent speaking skills that would make the current candidates look like really bad.

Unfortunately, they have no desire to mix in with the political half-breed that suck from the american tit at every possible opportunity.

It's pathetic to think that this country doesn't have a VIABLE ALTERNATIVE to the current Democrat / Republican debacle.
