25 is good. If you were 19 or something, you'd have less of a chance (in terms of the psychological maturity required)

    Good luck, bro!

    Thanks Dude

First and foremost, thank you in advance for serving our country. Second, derek is right on. Just remember 90% is mental.

And about your workouts, just for my two cents worth...You can add some muscle bulk to go along with your current routine. But that gain will be limited. Unfortunately, we can't have both because our bodies just aren't made that way.

Now that's not to say you can't have a decent compliment of both muscle bulk of endurance trained muscle fibers. It's just that to get the best, you have to focus on one or the other.

If you keep your routine up, the muscle growth will be kept at a minimum. If you want to add muscle, you'll have to adjust your other workouts. IronMaiden is right with an exercise prescription of 3 X 8 being a great workout to build muscle bulk and make sure you go to failure. But also remember, to go full range of motion, slowly release the weight all the way down, (get the full effect of the negative), stretch before lifting, proper breathing and focus on the targeted muscle - use proper form.

One last thing, the routine you've been doing for endurance should be changed up. Shock the muscles! Try riding the bike for 20 miles once a week instead of running or get on the eliptical. Our bodies are very efficient. And they learn after awhile how to use efficiency to alleviate working so hard. Your muscles will be talking to you after you change it up simply because they are being used differently. But don't worry....It's a good kind of sore

Best of luck and God Bless
