instead of running miles strait.. try mixing things into it..
example:
1/2 mile, 50 flutter kicks, 1/2mile, 50push ups, 1/2 mile, lunges, 1/2 mile,50 sit-ups, 1mile,
this is the style work out i did before going to army SF selection and though its not a total distance fair, as long as keep going and don't allow yourself to break it will really work you because it forces your body to do more than just run..
