I'd still say that weights followed by fasted low intensity cardio combined with a proper diet (diet is the key), you will see some great results regardless of age. I myself was 210lbs just over a year ago.
Anyway what I was trying to get across is that it's best to do low intensity (~65% HR) whilst in a fasted state and not higher intensity.

Burning off 200 calories during low intensity cardio is more beneficial than burning off 200 calories during high intensity cardio if you are going for fat loss."
