I was diagnosed with the same thing about 7 years ago. I stopped drinking for two years, checked my diet and it went away. I started drinking again, diet got a bit out of control, not too bad. Went in earlier this year and it was back along with pretty high cholesterol. Doc put me on Niaspan for the cholesterol and he said it should help restore normal liver function (as far as processing fat). Niacin does take a toll on your liver after a while. I still drink on occasion only, like once a month, but have seriously cut down on the saturated fats. Any fats I do eat are mono & polyunsaturated like olive oil and peanut butter. Im supposed to go back for bloodwork but have to wait since im on week 3 of my cycle.

My cholesterol is really low, infact the doctor said im at a lower than low risk of cholesterol related diseases. My blood preassure is also good now since iv'e dropped my weight and i don't really take in any saturated fat, i need to work on getting fat it in to my diet. Iv'e stopped drinking altogether although i never really drank often. How was you diagnosed? Was you having any symptoms and did they say what the cause was?

Mine got diagnosed because I went in complaining pain on my side. They did blood tests on me and saw elevated sugar level, so then they did more tests and saw that I had fatty liver. The pain wound up being something else though so I guess I had no real symptoms. They caught it by chance.
