I think the OP was asking whether he should calculate his TDEE based on current bodyweight or his target/goal bodyweight. At least that's how I read it. Obviously, the answer is CURRENT bodyweight.

Although, calculating on the weight you wish to be would amount to TDEE+/- 400 until it was reached? Unless that goal were too far and the deficit or excess was too large?Originally Posted by gbrice75

Calculating using anything other than current body weight will yield inaccurate numbers to work with. Sure if the goal was just to add/lose a few lbs, your example makes sense, but what would be the point? Usually, the goal is more than a few lbs. for most people. With that said, TDEE should be recalculated every so often as body composition changes.
