Travel has never been a priority for me, and now I'm 50 and haven't been much of anywhere. My bucket list, travel to:
1) Hawaii
2) New York
3) the Grand Canyon

You guys! I have the opportunity to check #2 off my list. My mom offered to bring me to ny for 10 days in October. She'll cover expenses. I want to do it, but two problems:
1) I'd have to arrange care for my very challenging, disabled son. I've never been away from him for more than a couple days his whole life (15 years)
2) My mom and I have a complicated relationship that would make it difficult to spend so much together time with her


Luckily I don't need to decide right away

Wow thats tough, well #2 I wouldn't bother me but #1 is something else on its own. Can you go to NY for less time? 7 days in NYC is a long time.

Not really. There is a lot to do plus she has family. You also cannot count on great weather everyday in October.

Yes but she's worried about spending that much time with her mom and away from her son............so why not cut it shorter? Spend one day getting back together, sight see one day and the last see a show and dinner. She could have a great trip and be back to her son in a few days and not have to worry much.

Ok I missed that. It would definitely suck 7 days stuck in an apartment because of the weather (assuming 7 days of bad weather )
