Seeing Gearheads mask made me go down and dig mine out of the junk box in the basement. They gave them out for use digging on the pile at Ground Zero the second day after 9/11. The fires were burning deep under the debris pile, down in the multilevel underground shopping mall. The acrid smell of burning wire insulation and other plastics was sickening. Sometimes you would step on an exposed piece of rebar sticking out of the ground, and your shoe bottom would start to melt.

I got a family of 6 , so we rotate through a lot of the food fairly quick .. the freeze dried goods however have a 25 year shelf life.
my buckets of rice are vacuum sealed in mylar bags inside sealed food grade buckets, that also has a 25 year shelf life

I’d be really interested to see them turn this into an opportunity to administer TRT to the hypo men who come down with this shit and see if symptoms improve, and at what rate compared to baseline.

Yes, the SARS strains are very different than influenza, but this virus is likely to behave in the exact same fashion regarding mutation, and if anything will only become more virulent. It’s why flu vaccines don’t have a great track record; they’re always based on a “best guess” for strain and mutation.
So our options are either A: do what we do for the flu (advise at risk to stay home, lock down nursing homes, etc.) or B: keep doing this current stupid bullshit in perpetuity.

That’s already happened about 50 miles from me.
The county that I work in, when I started there in 2004 felt “high end” when they got a Sheetz and a McDonalds. Now the place has two Food Lions, a Walmart, two Sheetz, three strip malls, etc.
Fortunately though, the march west is slow, and there’s a county between us that won’t approve shit for new building. They’ve shot down almost every proposal from anything even remotely resembling a chain or franchise for 40 years running.
And really, the other directions are even less concerning. It’s over an hour in any other direction before you hit much of anything larger than a small town.

There’s actually a reason why there’s no real investment from businesses here. We’re among the “poorest” counties in the state on paper, because most of those who live here are either farmers, retirees who live on retirement and SS, and of course a huge Amish population.
It’s a huge boon to those of us who prefer living this far out, because the land is still quite cheap due to nearly non-existent infrastructure. Little cell service, no high-speed internet, no public utilities other than electricity and landline phone (lol), etc.
I’ll feel comfortable living here until we notice the Amish fleeing. When they haul ass west, it’s time to go.

Corona adds a small percentage to that.. definitely not worth destroying our economy and peoples lives, businesses, careers, families, etc. over.

G, I have grown from our conversations because I’ve had a unique opportunity to speak with someone in such a totally different setting.

Here’s another map that is shows it is present around the country, but your map clearly does indicate deaths by percentage of the population. Our perspective differs because I don’t necessarily feel that deaths are only to be feared if they reach a certain percentage of people, but understand & respect where you are coming from.

And I’m also aware of the catastrophic effect that it’s had on the economy, jobs, mental health, etc. To think we have come so far in few months is jaw dropping really. But I still stand by my previous stance, but am more than happy to modify it now after having those few months to learn more, but that’s me.

Hey, my point that I was making before is that I am exposed to this mega-wealth, live among it (I am not mega-wealthy, nor admire it, nor lust for it) and it sickens me. I’ve only waded into those waters a few times at restaurants to appease my wife. As a rule I refuse to go anywhere that does not accept jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. I’m of the opinion that we really haven’t seen the price gouging & viciousness of the money grabbers yet, as they are waiting for the true panic to occur. There are so many areas in the west coast that hate southern Californians, because they’ve moved there and completely reconfigured areas in different regions/states because property is so much cheaper there. Then it drives up prices for the locals and then they start corrupting it with their tastes & lifestyles that they’re accustomed to.

My wife was out walking in the local park today as she has been for several months. Even in a region where our numbers are continuously climbing, more and more people are using less caution. Our location in the valley valley suits my style though. There is some good food (sorry my wife totally corrupted me there) & the crowd is not too snobby, EQ damage is minimal, wild fires don’t touch it and crime is limited to petty shit.

I currently refuse going over to Santa Monica, Hollywood or Beverly Hills. I’ll make an exception for only one or two places. One of them is my tattoo parlor. Thank god my wife has her friends to do her favorite things. I didn’t grow up with much, so her things are of little to no interest to me. Even with those things though, she is far from a snob.

in any given year there are 60,000 deaths in LA county . there have been a couple thousand deaths over the last 6 months cause of "covid" . thats not very many in comparison to any normal year.. you really think that warrants shutting down the city for the rest of the summer ?
the people dying of "covid" would of died this year anyways .

I’ve modified much of what I feel should be more restrictive to regions. If there are less effected regions in Los Angeles county, less restrictions. But I can only speak to what I see and what my wife and friends that are fighting this tell me. They still are at risk because of not enough protective equipment. The numbers are climbing. They can read and have seen these medical charts GH, they have seen the symptoms. They are trained to make a differential diagnosis. Their opinion is based on fact. She works for a HUGE medical group who is consistent from facility to facility nation wide.

before Covid , were not the hospitals there even more busy then they are now ?

I know a doctor from San Diego that went to usc medical hospital in LA . he reported that the hospital was not busy and the "covid" tents set up outside the hospital had no one in them.
that was his report anyhow..

as for where I'm at , the hospitals are totally dead and far less busy ever since this "pandemic" hit . nurses getting laid off due to lack of work
