The problem is, even with vaccination, if we’ve even slightly mistimed it or misjudged the strain (even if enough were to get it), and heavy mutation has occurred, the vaccine can be rendered largely ineffective. We see this every year with Influenza, so to expect something as contagious as CoV-2 to be knocked out in one swipe is foolhardy at best, and outright dangerous at worst.
Again, I’m not anti-vaccine by any stretch, but considering that I’ve already had CoV-2, I gain nothing from bothering. Let someone who hasn’t been infected yet have it, because either way, it amounts to nothing for me, and it serves better going to someone with a lower probability of survival. Same reason I don’t bother with flu vaccines, especially in years when there are notable shortages.
Then you have assholes like the guy destroying viable doses making it even more of a selfish act for me to get something that benefits me not at all, and potentially take it away from someone else.
